Hey everyone! Elaineabella here with your regular Marker Geek Monday feature! Since we’re now well into November I thought I would get a wriggle on with finishing off some of my coloured images to pop on Christmas cards. Click through to check out how I added a pretty snowy background to Rudolph the Skating Reindeer using Copic Markers.
Hey everyone! Elaineabella here, with some more colouring fun to share and hopefully give your Monday a colourful boost! Since it’s Halloween today I thought it would be fun to share a colouring video for one of our awesome seasonal images.
Hey everyone! Elaineabella here with a fun Marker Geek Monday post for you! This week we’re going to take a look at creating some fun background effects for some of our awesome Christmas/winter themed stamp sets.
The two backgrounds I’m sharing today are fairly similar. The first one is actually one I created a couple of years ago, but I think it’s still worth checking out if you want to have a go at recreating the look!
This example was looser in style and much quicker to do than the one in my latest video which you will see below. I kept the colours fairly light and they didn’t require much working and blending to achieve a nice soft look.
Marker colours are given on the video, and the video also shows me colouring the snow and lake Santa is skating on.
This example took more time, as I was going for a darker sky, and more vibrant colours. The image was also a bit trickier to work around!
TOP TIP: when trying this yourself, start with the background and colour your stamped image afterwards! It’s easier to use the colourless blender to correct mistakes on an uncoloured image, or to cover mistakes with other colours.
I also took things a step further and used one of my favourite colourless blender techniques to add some extra interest to the sky, which also enhanced the northern lights effect and helped things to blend more, or rather distracts the eye from noticing imperfections! đ You can see me doing this in another background colouring tutorial: Copic Galaxy Background Tutorial (w/video & step by step guide).
That’s it for now! I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out today’s post. Don’t forget to hop on over to my blog – Marker Geek– to see the finished cards for both videos and grab or pin the step by step guides for your reference!

Hi everyone! Elaineabella here with the latest Marker Geek Monday installment. This week I’ve been playing with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens again, which I know will make at least a few of you very happy. đ
Happy Monday! Elaineabella here, as usual. Sadly, I don’t have a new Marker Geek Monday for you this week though. Last week was not a great week, and I did NO colouring whatsoever. Hoping to remedy that this week, but in the meantime I thought I’d post a round up of all the Marker Geek Monday posts so far this year. That way you can check out any posts you may have missed, and have a handy link to any you may want to revisit. Fingers crossed for a better week this week, and a new Marker Geek Monday next week!
Posts include pinnable images showing colour combinations etc, videos and general tips/info.

Posts on My Own Blog:
I have also been posting tips, colour combos and videos over on my own blog – Marker Geek. Here’s a quick round up so you can hop over and check them out:

Stamping Bella Holiday 2016 Release:
I didn’t get to share any colouring tips with you last week as Emily hijacked the blog with an amazing round of preview posts for the latest stamp release. The new release is of course now available to order and everything can be found under the WHAT’S NEW section on the website. I know a few items are currently out of stock as this release has been especially popular. Rest assured Emily and the rest of the Stamping Bella team are working hard to get the stock replenished, so don’t worry if you have your eye on some of the new stamps (and who doesn’t?!) – restocks are on the way!
To get all the inspiration the Bellarific Babes created for the new release, check out Emily’s handy Release Day Blog Post.
In case you missed out on the preview posts, or if you just want a handy way to see all of my colouring videos for the new release you can check out my Stamping Bella Holiday 2016 Release Playlist below or release below or in HD over on YouTube!
Some of my favourite stamps from the new release are the Autumn/Fall themed images. Around this time of year I always get a little obsessed about pumpkins, so as you can imagine, I am in love with a few of the new images in particular. While I’m obsessing about colouring pumpkins I thought I would put together some handy Copic Marker combos for you!
Please feel free to save this image or pin it to your Pinterest board. It is intended for your reference. I do ask that you do not repost this image on your own blog or directly send the image to other people, instead please direct them to this blog post to obtain it for themselves.
Pumpkin Copic Colouring Video:
I put together a closer to real time version of my pumpkin colouring video, showing just the pumpkin stamp used on the combo sheet, so you can get a really good look at how I approached colouring this image.
As you can see from the Copic combo sheet above, you can achieve some nice results by shading your YRs with reds or browns. You could also use Warm Grays to add some nice depth to your colouring. Personally my preference is to use some of the reddish brown Earth tones. When using greys for the shading it does tone down the colours somewhat, so to maintain the richness and intensity I tend to reach for the earth tones or reds instead.
My favourite combos shown above are those that use a yellow for the highlight area and a deep reddish brown for the shadows. This gives a nice amount of contrast and makes the image more visually appealing or makes it “pop”.
