today sistahs, Ryan and I had a moment. A moment that we have been anxiously waiting for. A CATHARCTIC moment while being a nervous moment as well. We have asked ourselves this question for a long time and finally received the answer today. The answer was YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! We knew we had succeeded as parents. Yes.. the BEST PARENTS EVAH. You want to know what it was? Ok.. you ready? Jayden’s pigtailed head (thank goodness for the piggytails) reached THE LINE.. barely.. and I mean B-A-R-E-L-Y…
SHE WAS TALL ENOUGH TO JOIN HER BROTHER IN THE IKEA BALL PIT! She ran in with Tyler with a quick wave and a “bye daddy and mommy” and OOOFFFFF she went!
Ryan and I looked at eachother and gave a high five (LOL) and had the BEST coffee of our lives.. oh and bought some SHTUFF too!

Oh I so relate. I think my son stayed a 3rd of an inch too short for like, EVAH. Finally had a growth spurt and yes, it was sweet. Beware though, the Ikea in Etobicoke was 37 inches and when we went to North York, he couldn’t get in as you had to be 39 inches. Sad, sad day. But, he has grown again!
now, if I could just find something to keep my 19 month old in the cart in the kitchen dept.!

Sweet!! Too bad my boys like the shopping part too much to want to go in the IKEA playground…
I have a long ways to go before I can have kid free shopping at IKEA, but it’s not all bad, we’ve had our fun. In one adventure to IKEA, my son, then 2, was a true challenge to keep in the cart. Between looking at stuff (our true intention at the store) and keeping an eye on Carter, the 2 year old, Reed the 3 year old and Daisy the 7 year old, and trying to talk to my husband about whether or not we really need this or that, I was stretched a little thin. Not an excuse, but the true reason for losing Carter in the store, not once but twice! All those little shortcuts can really confuse a scared mommy. But, we finally found a way to entertain him when we were in the closet section. He was very content to ‘hide’ in the closet. As we stood nearby discussing something else, a random woman, showed interest in Carter’s closet. When she opened the door and found a little boy, she was surprised to say the least. She shrieked a little, but Carter (and the rest of us) got a good chuckle. The point of my story – enjoy your kid free shopping at IKEA Em, but don’t forget to watch out for other people’s children 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS! Not there yet, but one day… If only that coffee had a little Baileys in it, then you REALLY would have been celebrating! But I’m totally envious that you have an IKEA — how long do you think before Oklahoma will get one?!?!?!

Woohoo!!! What a great moment : ) My youngest son didn’t seem to grow for ages and now he’s 6’5″ and still growing!!!!
that is the best news!! I am now wishing we had an Ikea so I could drop the kiddos off for a bit :).

One of the saddest days of my life, was when we went to the six flags parks to ride the Flying Roller Coaster. My baby, big as she is, was about this much too short to ride the ride, they almost let her on because they didn’t measure her and then at the last second, the attendant grabbed her and measured her and she couldn’t go!!!!! I was already stuck in the darn thing and to top it all off I was riding with a broken ankle, so I couldn’t just jump down and stay with her. She had to stay with the attendant while we rode the world’s looooooongest ride. I cried the whole time and felt like the world’s WORST MOM. Needless to say when we went back the next year, we were both soooooo happy that she was tall enough for ALL the rides. Now she won’t stop growing!!! Love to the mom’s who understand the joys and heartaches of the line.
BTW – I received my VERY FIRST BELLA AND SENTIMENT!!!! By bestest friend in the whole world(Addictabella Angela) got me GoodLuckaBella for my Birthday. I LOVE HER or THEM BOTH. Kisses to bestest friends.

It’s been a few years since my youngest made the line, but I still remember the day when she was tall enough to ride the roller coasters at the theme parks. Now they both tower over me at 5’11” and 6′, with one getting married this summer and the other a junior in college. Enjoy them because they grow up before you know it.

It was a very sad day when my daughter was over the other line, meaning she was too big. She was very bummed.
My youngest daughter, age 4, was born with a head full of curls and they have been growing almost as fast as she is. Hubby will say “she’s 3’6″- 4’4” with the afro! Let’s hear it for pigtails and ponytails!
