ONE WORD. ONE LITTLE TEENY TINY WEENY WINY word.

How can someone expect someone like me to think of one word when I can verbalize about 6500 words per minute?  How can someone expect someone like me to think of ONE tiny word when I have my own LANGUAGE?  hmph.  Well, I tell ya, Ali Edwards has gotten me thinking.

Ali is running a class called ONE LITTLE WORD on her website and boy does she have a following.  Many of my customers are doing it and Denabella is doing it as well.  Every year since 2006, Ali has run this class and the premise is that you must journal/scrapbook  for the year based on that little word.  This keeps you focused (ME??? FOCUSED???), goal oriented (well, I am that, kinda).. and makes you keep to this word throughout the year.  Yes, I have had a KAJILLION words, goals, breakthroughs, ideas, resolutions but when I read about this ONE LITTLE WORD concept, it made me really THINK.

So I started spewing out 50 kazillion words to my family and dena and they just laughed it off until at last.. I found my word.  Yup.  I did.  It’s a word I use all the time.  A word I TRULY believe in.. a word that I may not follow through with all the time but NOW it’s gonna be different.

My one little word is

commitment.

Yup..this commitment does go hand in hand with my resolutions and it is a REHEALLY powerful word.  I, STAMPING BELLA, EMILY BLOCK, MOTHER, WIFE, DAUGHTER, GRANDAUGHTER, NIECE, COUSIN, FRIEND etc. am going to focus on my COMMITMENTS this year.  There are many.  And boy am I DETERMINED. (OOOHH another good word!)

So sistahs, since I am lacking some creativity due to the preparations for CHA,  I guess we will just “chat”.

Do you have a word?  one little word that means so much to you?

Would love to hear from you.

Mwah to da sistahs who are COMMITTED

and WORDY 🙂

Em

Happy ~ I enjoy everything about it and everything it stands for.

  4. What a great idea. I am also quite, ahem, wordy… but my word popped into my mind pretty quickly, actually. It’s also a word I use all the time, and it means a lot to me in many ways. My word is peace.

Just one word? O.M.G. This might be a little difficult. For 2011 it probably will be downsize. As in downsizing all the junk in my house (closets, garage, basement). How much stuff & junk do people need, I ask you? Except for all the stuff I use for card making – that’s different. LOL

  6. Jayne says:

LOVE…..I want to shower my kids, hubby, family and friends with it. I want my girls especially to know how much they are loved each and every day!

  7. Cathy P says:

My word for 2011 is UNCLUTTER. My mind, my heart, my house, my schedule, my life. SO TIRED OF ALL THE CLUTTER…so OUT it goes! I feel better already!

    Emily,
I am participating in Ali’s class as well (the one at BigPicture). My word for 2011 is bountiful. I want to be bountiful not only with what I have but with what I give.

  9. Queen Mary says:

Em, Ali’s thing has taken on a life of its own hasn’t it!?! EVERYONE is talking about it! I’m taking the class and my word this year is COURAGE.

  10. Laura Evans says:

I want a word too and I am struggling making the decision. Maybe mine should be decisive??? LOL. I plan on having one very soon.

  11. maryg says:

present. not as in’gift’ but as ‘in the moment’. present

  12. I don’t have one word really, but if i had to think about it, I’d like to say relax, but in reality that will never happen, so how about laugh, I hope to enjoy this next year and just laugh at things, it’s not worth getting all stressed out over issues you can’t change!

  13. Karen says:

What a great post. I don’t know what my word should be, but I like commitment, works on so many levels. Maybe mine will be Journey. Thanks for the thought-provoking post.
PS I love planners and agendas too. For a long time I was a die-hard Franklin-Covey girl, but now I like a sleek red Moleskine in my purse (and not just ’cause Nigella posted that on her website too….)

  14. lindaH says:

RETIRE! (so i can have more time to CREATE!)

  15. Agnes C says:

Great word Em!! So glad you’re taking part – Jan’s lesson is up!! Get cracking. My OLW is minize!

  16. Emily C says:

FOCUS…as in focus on the blessings in my life and what matters most…focus on the gift that is today and stop cluttering life with unnecessary stress. 🙂
