A2 Card Gift Box
Recently, one of our readers asked if I could come up with a tutorial for a box that could be used to gift a couple of A2 size cards. I have made this type of box many times before so I tweaked the measurements to suit A2 cards.
Score on the 9.5″ side at 3.25″ and 3.75″
For the top flap, cut a piece of card measuring 4 3/8″ x 6″ and score at 4″ and 4.5″
On the base, cut away the outer sections, up to the 3.25″ scoreline.
Cut away the outer parts of the 0.5″ section
Create tabs from the remaining 0.5″ pieces, as shown.
Round the corners of the 3.25″ section
Round the corners of the top outer section.
Take the top flap and cut away a tiny shaving from each side of the 1.5″ section. This just ensures that it fits onto the base neatly.
Round the corners of the largest section of the top flap.
Adhere the 1.5″ section to the inside of the base, as shown here.
To decorate the box with patterned paper, cut:
Adhere the large piece of paper on the inside back panel of the base.
Flip the base over. Round the corners of the side pieces to match the base and stick them down. Adhere the front panel paper to the base also.
Adhere the paper to the inside and outside of the top flap and then stick down all the 3/8″side pieces.
Once you have all the paper stuck down, apply adhesive to the outside of the 0.5″ tabs and adhere them to the inside of the side next to it, on both sides.
Apply adhesive alone the edges, inside the front base panel.
Fold up the front panel and adhere to the sides, ensuring they’re square and the edges of the front panel are flush with the edges of the side panels.
This is how the box should look at this point. Set it aside to work on Rudolph
Stamp Rudolph onto some white card and colour using your desired medium.
Cut Rudolph using the coordinating die, or fussy cut with a precision scissors. Cut a 3″ circle from card and a 2.75″ circle from paper. Also, stamp the sentiment onto white card and use the coordinating die to cut it out.
Wrap some white twine around the box, near the bottom of the front flap and tie in a bow.
Turn the box over and secure the twine under a 5 5/8″ x 4.25″ piece of white card. You can add some paper over the card if desired.
Adhere the circles together and pop Rudolph on the front of them using foam tape/dots. Also using the foam tape, adhere the circles down onto the front flap. Be sure you don’t catch the twine with the adhesive tape. Stick the sentiment flat on the front, beneath the flap.
