Marker Geek Monday: #TheDailyMarker30Day Round Up with Videos and Colour Maps

Hey folks! Elaineabella here with another Marker Geek Monday post to get the week off to the right start…a colourful one!

This week I’ve got a bit of a round up post for you. You may or may not be aware that I have been participating in the wonderful challenge #TheDailyMarker30Day hosted by the equally wonderful Kathy Racoosin. Every day since the start of July as a little personal twist on the challenge I have been colouring a Stamping Bella image and filming the colouring process. The challenge is almost over, and I have only missed one day. This means that I have a nice collection of videos, coloured images and colour maps to go with those images! Since you may have missed some of the colouring action over the course of the last month, I thought it might be a good idea to share here and make sure you don’t miss out on any of the inspiration.

Today’s #TheDailyMarker30Day Colouring:

Here’s my colouring for today, Day 28 of the challenge. I decided to have some fun and colour an old favourite. It’s a nice way to loosen up before starting on all the colouring I need to work through for the next release. 😉

Stamp: Flower for a True Friend (incl sentiment).

I coloured the image with my trusty Copic markers, and here’s the Copic Colour Map showing all the colours I used:

#TheDailyMarker30Day Coloured Images & Colour Maps:

The rest of my coloured images and the Copic Colour Maps (and one pencil map) for them can be found on my blog. Click through to my #TheDailyMarker30Day page to view them all in one handy location.

Please feel free to save the images or pin them on Pinterest for reference. Please do not download and share them however – instead direct people to this blog post or directly to the page on my blog so they can obtain them that way. Thank you!

Next time Kathy hosts the colouring challenge, I highly recommend joining in. For me it has been a great way to motivate myself to film more colouring videos and get them uploaded on YouTube. It has also been a great way to get myself excited about social media and sharing again too. Plus, I’ve learned some new things about the filming process and things I’d like to improve as I create more videos and content to share with you. For you, the challenge might be a good excuse to dedicate just a little time to colouring each day, and to get out there and share your work. Remember – it’s all about practice, so any small ways you can get yourself practicing can be a massive help.

My #TheDailyMarker30Day Colouring Videos:

You can watch all of my colouring videos filmed during the challenge in the playlist below or in HD over on YouTube. Subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss out on future videos!

Marker Geek Monday Series:

While I’m providing you with a round up of colouring fun, I thought it might also be a good time to do a round up of all the Marker Geek Monday posts so far this year! That way you can check out any posts you may have missed, and have a handy link to any you may want to revisit.

Posts include pinnable images showing colour combinations etc, videos and general tips/info.

it’s DESIGN TEAM THURSDAY with FAYE-WJ-ABELLA! – SPONGED COPIC BACKGROUNDS!

Time for another dose of inspiration from one of the Bellarific Babes. It’s Design Team Thursday and this week Faye-WJ-abella has a fun technique to share.

Hey Peeps, it’s Faye here today 🙂

Stamping Bella DT Thursday: Creating a Textured Copic Background with a Sponge. Click through to see the step by step tutorial!

Sponge. Perhaps I’m being a little presumptuous here. But. Sponge. Not just for washing baby arm pits. I know, it’s an overwhelming thought. So, while you let that sink in for a moment, let’s talk about backgrounds.

My style is very clean and simple. But every once in a while, I fancy a little ‘pop’ of colour behind an image. Sometimes, if I feel like getting ink all over my hands, nails and desk, (that’s with scrap paper in place, by the way. If I didn’t have the paper, well. Nuff said.) I’ll get the Air Brush out. And sometimes, I like to get a different fix of Messy. I know, the shocks just keep coming, don’t they?

So, let’s take Thinkingofyouabella, who, is perfect for a little Arty Farty Background Moosh. Now, before I tell you that I am going to colour around the edge of the image with RV91 and R81, as rough and messy as I like… You want to do this part first. Trust me, colouring the background first is a must.

Stamping Bella DT Thursday: Creating a Textured Copic Background with a Sponge. Click through to see the step by step tutorial!

You’ll notice I have already decided my Light Source will be Top Right, which is why I have more of the R81 on the left hand side.

Now, you’ll want a plate, or a Craft Mat, or something you can squirt some Colourless Blender on. Dip your piece of Sponge, (or in fact any fabric with some texture to it, (Put the Bath Towel back please!)) in the Colourless Blender and then apply your Sponge, to the background ink. One pink elephant. Two pink elephants. Three pink elephants. Stop. Move around your image until you have Mooshed the whole lot with the Sponge. You may need to re-dip your sponge as you go.

Stamping Bella DT Thursday: Creating a Textured Copic Background with a Sponge. Click through to see the step by step tutorial!

It’s worth noting that you get different effects by:

  • Using different fabrics.
  • Varying the amount of pink elephants you count.
  • Changing how much Colourless Blender you start with.

I used a lot of wet as that was the effect I wanted, but if you use less, the texture of whatever you are pressing against the paper shows more. So play around.

Now the Mooshing is done, we can colour the image.

Stamping Bella DT Thursday: Creating a Textured Copic Background with a Sponge. Click through to see the step by step tutorial!

Finally, I doodled some and called her done. But that’s only because I chickened out of doing the thing I had planned to do. Maybe I’ll show you that another time 😉

Have a great day.

It’s WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS with

Sandy Allnockabella!
Hello once again, sistahs! It’s Sandy Allnock with one more Bella 2.o for you…this time with Allboxedupabella! Sandy Allnock Adding Drawn Details I used to have a boss whose favorite phrase was “smoke and mirrors.” It meant that, as creatives, we have secreats for how we make our magic, and we keep it among ourselves. All anyone else sees is a poof of magical smoke and glitter, and they have no idea how we did our amazing work! This is a way to do that….add beautiful drawn detail on top of your coloring, and your friends and family will be blown away by your skills! Watch the video below, or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

I’ve certainly enjoyed visiting with the stampin sistahs over here on Em’s blog – who knows, maybe I’ll get to come back and play again! In the meantime, I hope to see you over on my blog from time to time too. Hugs to all, and big thanks to Em for having me as a guest!

Spotlight On The Woodsies Rubber Stamps at Stamping Bella

Hey all! Elaineabella here today with a fun new feature here at Blogabella shining a spotlight on some of the treasures in our collection of stamps. Last week we took a closer look at the Cool Chicks line, with all their crazy antics. Since they do have a habit of popping up everywhere to create mischief, you may even spot one or two of them today. 😉 If you missed that post click through and check it out: Spotlight On The Cool Chicks Rubber Stamps at Stamping Bella.

Spotlight On The Woodsies

Today I’d like to shine the spotlight on a wonderfully sweet collection of stamps that was introduced last year. They can be soft and sweet, but also a little quirky and humorous: THE WOODSIES.

We’ll start with my absolute favourite from the collection: Gilbert Has a Snack.

Stamping Bella Gilbert has a Snack rubber stamp. Click through for blog post with inspiration!

When I was little I had guinea pigs, and rabbits but the guinea pigs were my favourites. They are the sweetest little characters that chatter away, so I’ve got a total soft spot for Gilbert. Look at those little feet poking out under that watermelon slice. JUST LOOK! So much cute, I cannot. And the bee. I have a soft spot for bees too. I’m a sucker for cute, ok?

Here’s a card from yours truly. I just thought it was such a perfect image for a sweet little “just because” notecard. Now I’m feeling like I may need to colour little Gilbert again soon.

Another stamp from this line that I’m particularly fond of is Petunia and Penny Take a Break.

They are just so cute and roly-poly. They look like they’ve just been “pigging out” together and are taking a break hanging out under the flowers trying to recover. Yeah, we’re on to you Petunia & Penny.

Here’s a card from our fabulous Sandiebella. So pretty! As you can see, The Woodsies are perfect for both clean and simple and more detailed layered cards alike. Be bold with colour or go for soft and sweet, it’s all good!

Speaking of soft and sweet, have you seen Bedelia the Bunny?

Stamping Bella Bedelia the Bunny rubber stamp. Click through for blog post with inspiration!

Such a sweet, pretty bunny. She comes with a lovely “thank you” sentiment as you can see, but she works beautifully for all sorts of occasions.

Look at this lovely card by Tracybella. Love how she’s given Bedelia pink cheeks, and that little pink nose, oh my!

Here’s where you will see some familiar little faces… Nice to See You Petunia.

Just what do those chicks think they look like? The second one from the left, with the big round glasses? He’s an idiot. Look at him. Absolutely clueless. You may remember him from last week’s post, where he’d wandered into Sage the Scientist’s lab. I imagine he wanders into a lot of situations, completely oblivious. Love it.

Here’s a gorgeous card by Stephabella. Perfect paper choices!

We also have some beautiful festive stamps in The Woodsies range. Petunia loves Christmas is my favourite, so cute with that wreath!

Petunia is really, really happy about Christmas. So happy she’s fallen asleep in a wreath. 😉

Look at this beautiful card by Kerribella. Love how she’s echoed the gorgeous bow in the image.

Warm and Fuzzy Penguins comes in a close second for my festive favourite.

Stamping Bella Warm and Fuzzy Penguins rubber stamp. Click through for blog post with inspiration!

This is one of those images which is ridiculously cute PLUS there’s a little subtle humour. Take a closer look – that poor penguin being rolled into a snowball with his little feet waving in the air. The one on the right is just waddling along, all happy with his warm and festive hat. He’s got no worries, well, until he clocks that giant snowball headed his way. How many penguins are going to get taken out by that thing?! The two in front don’t care, they’re in loooooooove and they’ve got a huge scarf big enough for two. 😉

Love the non-traditional colours Shelabella chose for her card. Pink trees!

Marker Geek Monday: Copic Colouring Quick and Easy Fairy Wings

Time to get another week started off the way we mean to go on – with lots of colour! It’s me -Elaineabella – here to share some more colouring tips with you for Marker Geek Monday. This week I’ve got some quick tips to help you with colouring some of our fairy themed images.

Before we get started, I’d also like to mention that if you enjoyed my recent Marker Geek Monday Copic Colouring Pleats and Folds Step by Step with Video post, and you also like to colour with pencils you may want to pop on over to my blog and read my recent post: Flowersbehindmybackabella Colouring with Polychromos Pencils vs Prismacolor. There is a video showing the process and also some discussion about the differences between Polychromos pencils and Prismacolor pencils, and my personal preference. While you’re there I invite you to subscribe or bookmark the blog for regular Stamping Bella inspiration!

Step by Step Copic Colouring Quick and Easy Fairy Wings

With a growing number of fairy images in the Stamping Bella range (see the Edna Collection and Tiny Townie Fairy Best Friends) I thought it would be fun to share a quick minimum fuss way to create pretty fairy wings using Copic or other alcohol based markers. I’ve got a step by step image for you to follow, and a colouring video below so you can see the process in action.

Marker Geek Monday Copic Colouring Quick and Easy Fairy Wings. Click through to see the step by step and watch a video!

It really couldn’t be easier to achieve a lively, appealing effect.

TOP TIP: If you want to enhance the appearance of transparency, add some subtle hints of colours that appear in your background. If you are colouring Edna in a background with some trees behind her, add some light green dotting to suggest that you can see a hint of the trees through the wings. Don’t be heavy handed with this – you just want to create the suggestion, you don’t want the wings to blend in with the background.

You can also watch a video of me colouring the entire Edna Needs a Martini image below or in HD over on YouTube.

Here is a full Copic Colour Map for the Edna Needs a Martini colouring featured in the videos. Remember that if you purchase Stamping Bella stamps you can obtain colour maps for the versions shown on the product packaging – go HERE to find out how to do that. Between those and the bonus colour maps featured here on the blog, you can build up a great library of colour combinations to try out with your own Copic collection.
