Honestly

How hilarious was the last contest? OMG.. I PEED in my pantZ with some of the comments… I loved the “Emily you are so skinny” mantra.. as it is SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH..LOL.. But it was fun to read.  I thank you all so much for participating.. it means the world to me that people care enough to take time out and actually post something.  I wish it was more consistent!

Lots of stuff going on  in our Splitcoast Forum (If you are not a part of that group yet, you TOTALLy should be.. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? K are you a member yet? lol)  there are some PHENOM sistahs over there.  There are contests, and prizes and challenges.. it is really a fun place to be!

We are even starting a book club there (the last book I read was the Friday night knitting club by Kate Jacobs.. LOOOVED it.. and will soon be reading her second book called Knit Two.. I am now reading the book Q&A.. the movie Slum Dog Millionaire was made based on this book)..  We even have  a crockpot recipe exchange.  I am SOOOOO in love with my crockpot.. I told Ryan that if I wasn’t married to him…. LOL..Since I have started a low carb way of life (AGAIN).. it is really a handy tool and the food is YUMMALICIOUS!!

If any of you have and love your crockpot and have some amazing websites/recipes, why don’t you share? post a comment or email me or post it on splitcoast.. HOW MUCH FUN WOULD THAT BE?!

    Hey Em!

I love the chichi’s and these flatbacks are ADORABLE!!!!

If you haven’t read “Sarah’s Key”, I highly recommend it. A great read and eye opening at the same time.

My crockpot is my lifeline—without it I would be floating in a sea of “What’s for Dinner?”.

    PULLED PORK

    3/4 cup Salsa

    1 tsp Cumin
    1 Tbs Chili Powder
    1 whole sliced onion
    1 whole slided green peper
    1 pork loin

Combine in the Crockpot on low for 8 hours or so, and then shred your meet with two forks, stir and let simmer for 30 minutes before serving

Hi Em: Love my crockpot. I gave my bro a crockpot cookbook for Christmas & he loved it. I think I should have kept it for myself. I would love some new recipes as mine are all “ho-hum”. I just finished a book called Dragon Bones by Lisa See. It was a phenomenal read. I actually finished it in the waiting room in Trudeau Airport in Montreal last Sunday – I just couldn’t put it down. Then I find out there are 2 other books in the same series – both here in the Thornhill Library.
As soon as I finish my laundry.. LOL.. I will be down to check out all the new stuff in the store.

ONE of my goals for 2009 was to read more for pleasure, right now I have Manchild in the Promised Land (anthropology, very serious) and for fun I have My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I am also a lazy cook on the wekdays and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my crock pot. One thing I do often is cut up chicken breasts, and throw them in the crockpot with some frozen veggies, mostly the peas and carrots and maybe even some corn and add a can or two of reduced fat cream of chicken soup or cream of celery, mushroom or what ever cream soup I have and cook that together for like an hour then I throw in a few cups of browm rice and cook that with a little more milk or water for another hour or two and add a little pepper and stir it up. It is pretty good, super easy, I “make” it when I come home at lunch time and my daughter eats it, which is important.

Hi Emily: I just love reading everything you write. It is too funny – Nicky’s “serious problem” forgetting names/creating new ones. I’m looking forward to seeing all the new stuff you bought from CHA. See you soon.
PS: I have a crockput but sadly, never used. I copied the Pulled Port recipe and will try it this weekend. Bye for now.
