Hiya sistahs!
well it’s a gloomy Bellarific Friday here in Toronto. BLAH. I do carpool with my BFF every day and she takes the kids to school and I pick them up every day.. this morning I waited outside with the kids for her to arrive and I took this picture
I see the poor leaves CLUTCHING on for dear life and it just makes me so sad.. I also remember the story called THE LAST LEAF by O. Henry.. I loved that story and will never forget sitting at my grandmother’s house watching it as a short film.. I must have been 8 years old and I remember the effect it had on me then. I believe the movie starred Art Carney if I am not mistaken.. Anyway.. I am not gonna depress you all..LOL.. just thought I would share a “moment” I had this morning.

And I hope you are keeping safe and warm 🙂 Tyler was in complete angst last night thinking that our house would be swept away a la wizard of oz… I really tried to rationalize at 2AM.. I really did. LOL… He watched the news in the middle of the night and decided that I should get the play by play.. so here I am half asleep writing a post.. and the funny thing is.. this post may make more sense than all my others..LOL
So this week’s theme was to use TYPE font on your pages. I made a couple of pages just to show you different ways to use your letter stamps/rubons/stickers
On this page, I used TYPE stamps as my message.. you know, when I talk to myself in my art journal? LOL.. I used lots of scraps, washi tape.. and that little house in the middle was on my desk when i decorated some deli paper.. so on it went on the page.. the furry lady is from a 70’s fashion book (which I LOVE).. and of course the PUFFY sticker which I am quite enamored with again (35 years later..LOL)
Now for this page, I used some of my favorite Teresa Mcfayden art journaling stamps.. I used elements from YOU’RE ALWAYS A STARBURST TO ME. I overstamped the circles and made a funky background.. I think I may use it on a card!.. I stamped random letters in the circles just to add a little interest.. I LOVE letters and numbers.. not just for words but for interest. I could have colored them in but I didn’t think I needed it with the stickers I used also for interest. I also love cutting out BIG and INTERESTING fonts out of magazines..they dont need to “say anything”.. they just also add an element of design…
Now for da SISTAHOOD
A small sistahood today.. hoping there will be more for next week’s theme which is…
STICKERS.. LOL.. I want you to feel like a kid again.. use old stickers from your stash.. go to the dollar store and get some PUFFY STICKERS (have I mentioned I love puffy stickers? Note the DOGGIES on my pages.. and the word LIFE on the first page)… Use them.. stick them.. paint and stick.. stick and stick.. just stick.. LOL.. use letter stickers… whatever you wish.. just have fun with it.

I wanted to wish my sistahs affected by DA hurricane to please take care and be safe!
I have another funny story :)… So between hockey, and school and hockey and hockey and hockey, I still am very strict with schoolwork.. I basically told tyler that if his grades aren’t good, we will reconsider this whole hockey commitment… needless to say he is PETRIFIED of me when he gets his marks back. So he had a test last week and I kept asking.. did you study.. YES mom.. do you know it? YES MOM… are you sure? YES MOM.. shall we review? NOOOOO MOM.. I know it I promise. Ok.. so Friday comes along and I am waiting for him and the other gang I carpool and out comes tyler shaking his head and HUGE TEARS as he plunks into the car. (p.s. as I am writing this, he is NEGOTIATING with me how he only has to read for 15 minutes rather than 20.. SOMEBODY SAVE ME FROM MAULING THIS CHILD!!!).. anyway he tells me his mark in his test and I am livid. wouldn’t talk to him.. wouldn’t look at him.. and we didn’t let him play hockey that night or the next (although he has to go to the game and practice).. Anyway when we got home after the plunking in the car my cell phone rings and I see it’s the school. I am MORTIFIED and SCARED so I don’t answer..LOL. They leave a message. I check the message… it’s his teacher… saying “Mrs Block, we would love for you to come on monday morning to see Tyler receive an award for RESPONSIBILITY in school… “..LOL.. after giving him such a hard time, I get this call.. Im’ a horrible mom.. the good news was, I didn’t tell him he was getting this award.. so he could stay “punished” all weekend..LOL. It was a surprise this morning..
