Thursday with Sandiebella: Create a Portfolio Pocket Card

How gorgeous is Sandie’s latest make? Love it! Even better – she shares how to create it.

Portfolio Pocket Card

Supplies:

Card
Designer paper
Scoring board and bone folder
Tag, Oval, Scalloped oval, and Pennant dies
Corner rounder
Adhesive and foam tape/dots.
Ribbon and twine
How to:
For the card base, cut a piece of card measuring 8.25″ x 11″. Score on the 11″ side at 4″ and 8.5″

Turn the card so that 8.25″ side is along the top,  with the 4″ section at the top. Score at 5.75″

Turn the card 90 degrees counter clockwise so that you’re scoring along the long side with the 2.5″ section at the top. Score at 3.5″ and 9″ until you meet the horizontal scoreline.

Using a scissors, cut the 3.5″ and 9″ scorelines up to the intersecting scoreline. Cut across on the intersecting scoreline from each edge to the inner scoreline to create a tab either side of the centre section. Taper the edges as shown.

Using a bone folder, fold and crease all the scorelines.

Round the corners on the larger outer section (this should be on the left).

Cut papers to layer onto the card base.

Outside and inside front – 3 7/8″ x 5 5/8″
Inside and outside centre – 4 3/8″ x 5 5/8″
Inside and outside end section – 2 3/8″ x 5 5/8″
Centre pocket – 2 3/8″ x 4 3/8″
Outside front small layer – 3 7/8″ x 3″

On the inside, glue the 3 pieces of paper.

On the outside, glue down only the end pieces, and set the centre piece and small front layer aside for now.

For the pocket, fold in the tabs and apply adhesive to them

Fold the pocket up, squeezing in the edges a little so that the sides can close over. It also shapes the card to curve over the pocket.

Adhere the patterned paper down and embellish as desired. I used a section of the patterned papers.

To make the little gift card pocket, cut a piece of patterned paper measuring 2.5″ x 3″ and score at 3/8″ on each side and the bottom.

Cut across the bottom score line diagonally to taper the edges.

Apply adhesive to each of the tabs. Remove the backing from the sides and fold up the bottom over them. Remove the backing from the bottom tab and adhere the pocket on the inside of the 2.5″ end section, about 1/4″ up from the bottom.

Cut 3 small tags for recipe notes, or use the pocket to hold a gift card.

Retrieve the outside front small layer and the outside centre piece of patterned paper and cut 2 lengths of ribbon approx 10″ long.

Turn the card base so that the outside is facing up and the 2.5″ end is on the left. Apply a strip of narrow double sided tape (2″ – 2.5″ in length) from the right edge of the front section and the left edge of the centre section.

Adhere the ribbon down onto the tape, leaving long tails.

Adhere the patterned paper pieces down over the ribbon to secure it in place.

Turn the card over, fold in the 2.5″ end and tie the ribbon. Set aside to work on the image.

Stamp the Curvy Girl Baker onto white card and colour using your desired medium.

Use the coordinating CUT-IT-OUT Die  or fussy cut using a precision scissors.

For the front of the card, cut a scalloped oval (card) approx 4.5″ tall and a classic oval (paper) approx 4.25″ tall. Adhere them together and stick down on the front of the card using foam tape/dots.

Also cut 2-3 large tags for the inside pocket and a pennant to embellish the inside front.

Cut a small tag and stamp the sentiment on the bottom half. Thread some white twine though the top of the tag.

Adhere the tag flat to the front of the ovals and adhere Curvy Girl Baker partially over the tag using foam tape/dots. Add a little embellishment above the sentiment on the tag.

The tags on the inside can be used to write personal messages, or for sharing recipes.
