Stamp It Saturday: Colouring Videos & Useful Links

This week’s Stamp It Saturday post is a bit of a hodge-podge! Hopefully you will find something useful in it, though. Please bear with me – I am in the middle of preparing for a big house move, and my mojo seems to have gone on strike until it gets a shiny new craft-room to play in. What a brat!

Firstly, I thought I would share my latest colouring video uploads for the recent release with you.

Polar Bear & Mousie Stuffies Colouring Video:

Watch me colour Polar Bear & Mousie Stuffies in the video below or in HD over on YouTube.

I have left this one close to “real time”, so you can get a really good look at the colouring.

I hope you enjoy checking out the colouring videos!

  1. Love watching Elaine color as she does a superb job and is very talented. I only wish that the Coptic color she is using at one time would be indicated. All the colors are shown at once but it would be helpful to see the one color used at a time – maybe put the cap in view so we can see? From a learning perspective nice to see the order she uses.. some go light to dark, others dark to light, etc. Thank you!

    1. Hi Teresa,

The reason I don’t do that, is that it doesn’t flow with the way I colour, and these videos are created as I am colouring an entire release, so flow is pretty important! I have tried to do this in the past, but I forget to keep it up throughout, and then I find myself stressing about marker caps and not concentrating on what I’m doing!

I do provide lots of tips and info in the Marker Geek Monday posts, with step by steps discussing how I approach colouring. As far as order goes – it depends! Usually, I colour by laying down my lightest colour to map things out, then lay my darkest colour down over this in the areas I want darkest, blending out with the mid-tones back to the lightest, repeating some of it as necessary. But that isn’t a hard and fast rule.

Really, the videos are probably more useful in seeing how I approach mapping things out, the marker strokes etc. That’s where the real value is – the colours I use and the order I use them in is way less useful. I talk a little about why in my recent post: http://stampingbella.com/blog/marker-geek-monday-there-is-no-magic-wand/

      Hope that helps!

  2. Good luck moving! But end result is always fun! Especially when a new “playroom” awaits. Just received my order! Am just loving all. Thanks for all the helpful videos on coloring! A newbie just learning to play.
