Supplies:

Versamark Ink-Pad
Clear Embossing Powder
Kraft Cardstock

Step by step:

Stamp the image onto a piece of card, using clear embossing ink

Cover the whole image with the embossing powder,

Shake off the excess, onto an A4 sheet of paper so that you can funnel it back into the jar.

Melt the embossing powder with a heat gun.

Heating from underneath will stop the card from curling up.Stamp It Saturday - Clear Embossed Stamping with Sandiebella

Colour the image as normal, using the embossed lines to guide you.

The marker colours appear darker as you lay them down, but as they dry they fade.Stamp It Saturday - Clear Embossed Stamping with Sandiebella

I added some metallic pencil to her hair and shirt.

When the image is completely coloured, leave to dry for a while, then go back in with darker shades where you want to add depth.

To finish, use a copic multi-liner, or similar, to paint the eyes.Stamp It Saturday - Clear Embossed Stamping with Sandiebella

  1. Sandie, I love this technique! I’ve done the clear embossing/coloring before. But, not on kraft cardstock. Its on my list now. Thanks for the inspiration.
BTW, I wait for your project tutorials. Love the different types of card folds, cuts, explosion boxes, etc.
    Keep up the good work!

  2. GORGEOUS effect! I was thinking you used colored pencils and am delighted to see you colored with your Copics. I pictures some time in my craft room this weekend! Thanks, Sandi!

  3. Hi Sandie,
This is amazing! Love this tutorial as well as all of the others you’ve done. Thank you SO much for showing every little step with photos and clear instructions!

  4. It’s really bad for the tips of your Copics to color over embossing like this. The alcohol ink can dissolve the embossing and it will ruin the nibs of your markers. One way to accomplish a very similar look without ruining your markers is to stamp it with a MISTI in an ink color that barely shows up on your paper, color your image, and then stamp with Versamark over the image and emboss.
