Marker Geek Monday: Copic & White Gel Pen Detail On A Sweet Baby Card

Time for the latest Marker Geek Monday. Today I’ve got a little stamping and colouring video for you featuring a few of the latest stamp sets!

Stamping Bella - Marker Geek Monday - Copic & White Gel Pen Detail on a Sweet Baby Card

White Gel Pen Detail

I had the idea to create a sweet baby card using the recently released and utterly adorable Under the Sea Creatures stamp set along with the waves from the Tiny Townie Frances loves to Float stamp set and the “And so the adventure begins” sentiment from the Summer Sentiment stamp set. I put together a video to show you how I stamped and coloured my little scene, including how I added detail to the waves using a white gel pen.

TOP TIP: to create a natural look, use a dotting action with the white gel pen. Smooth lines are harder to achieve and will look out of place. A broken dotted look will give a softer effect, suggesting the spray from the waves.

You will notice in the video below that even though I always intended to add the white gel pen detail, for some reason I decided to go over the stamped wave lines using a Copic multi-liner (badly, I might add). This step was completely unnecessary!

You could of course, add this detail by stippling using white acrylic paint and a stiff brush – I tend to reach for the white gel pen as it involves minimal fuss and clean up! The pen I used is the Sakura Gelly Roll Classic White – this is my “go to” white gel pen for most things.

Watch me colour the cute little whale scene in the video below or in HD over on YouTube.

Full Copic Marker details are included in the video.

Here’s the full card! I think that sentiment is just so sweet for a new baby card – a great way to get year round use from the set.

  1. Is there a place on this site or a video that shows all the tools needed to create something like this card? Like the little tool you place the paper on and the stamping ink? Also, how do you get the paper circles? I’m so new to this but LOVE it!

    1. Hi Pam! Elaineabella here. If you visit my post over on my own blog you will find links to all the products I used. http://bit.ly/2vU7TOx

You don’t absolutely need the MISTI stamping tool, and it is a bit of an investment, but I do find mine very useful. If you look back through the Stamp It Saturday posts here on the Stamping Bella blog I did a post about inks and what to use when.

The stitched circles are die cut. Hope that helps!
