It’s Thursday with Sandiebella – how to make a gatefold cascading card
Hiya sistahs, happy Thursday-with-Sandiebella!
Today Sandiebella teaches us how to make a beautiful Gatefold Cascading Card featuring our Dandylion Loves You rubber stamp
Stamp Dandy Lion Loves You onto white card and colour using your preferred medium. Fussy cut around the outline.
Stamp the sentiment onto a strip of card and cut out using a label die.
Set the image and sentiment aside.
For the card base cut three pieces of card measuring 10.5″ x 7″
Score TWO of the pieces at 2.5″, 5″, 7.5″ and 10″.
These pieces create the cascading element of the card.
Repeat the following steps on both pieces of card.
On the opposite end to the 0.5″ section, measure up 2″ and mark with a pencil.
Cut diagonally from the 10″ score line down to the 2″ pencil mark.
Fold back the 0.5″ section and trim the excess.
Concertina fold both pieces as shown.
Score the remaining 10.5″ x 7″ piece at 2.5″, 2.75″, 7.75″ and 8″.
This piece is the gatefold card base.
Fold and crease on the score lines.
Adhere a piece of paper measuring 4-7/8″ x 6-7/8″ into the inside back of the gatefold card.
Alternatively, cut 2 pieces of paper measuring 2-5/8″ x 6-7/8″ and adhere them after the cascading element has been glued down.
Apply glue to the 0.5″ section and adhere to the inside of the gatefold, as shown.
Cut strips of paper 2-3/8″ wide and use the card base as a guide for the size and angle.
Cover all of the card base with papers.
Cut 2 pieces contrasting paper measuring 3.25″ x 2-3/8″ and cut the top diagonally. Apply adhesive to the sides an bottom only and adhere to the outer panels inside the gatefold to make 2 pockets.
Cut one piece of card measuring 1.5″ x 2″ and another at 4.5″ x 2″. Fold both in half on the 2″ side. Apply adhesive to the 4.5″ x 2″ piece and, lining the score line up with the centre line of the cascading element, adhere it to the the back of the the middle sections to close them together. Repeat for the front sections using the 1.5″ x 2″ piece of card.
Cut a 2.75″ circle from white card and a 2.5″ circle from paper. Adhere them together and then adhere the sentiment on top.
Cut a 4″ scalloped circle from card and a 3.75″ circle from paper and adhere them together.
For the front outside of the gatefold card, cut two pieces of card measuring 2-3/8″ x 6-7/8″ and two pieces of paper measuring 2.25″ x 6.75″. Adhere the paper pieces to the card pieces.
Adhere the sentiment circle to the front of the cascading element, curving it slightly first.
Adhere the front panels down.
Cut a piece of card measuring 2″ x 11.5″ and fold it around the gatefold. Remove it and sharpen the fold lines with a bone folder. Apply adhesive to the open ends and adhere them together to make a belly band.
Cover the front and back of the belly bank with paper.
Apply foam tape across the centre of the belly band and adhere the circles to it.
Cut some tags for the inside pockets and decorate as desired.

This is a really great technique! Thanks for sharing! The card is adorable, as well.
I like this card but am somewhat confused about the instructions. Do you have more detailed instructions? I have cut and scored and glued the card together but not sure how to do the papers on the inside. Thank you!
Such a lovely card I am pleased I found this I have found myself doing the same sort of card so much it was getting boring So this will start me off to do some shaped cards Thanks for sharing
