Hello!
Amy here with a new Scenic Saturday card to share. Now that we are well into August it was time for me to ink up the next Tiny Townie Garden Girl in my personal “year of flowers” challenge. The flower representing this last month of summer is Poppy and since I have previously colored this beauty as my favorite California Poppy, now seemed the perfect opportunity to color her up in shades of classic red. The rest of her ensemble was kept very neutral and I even decided to simply shade her tights and shirt with light grey markers, forgoing coloring in a striped pattern because I really like the look of the narrow black stripes just as they are.
For the background I wanted to create the impression of distant hillsides covered in red poppies. My trick to accomplishing this was to color a base layer of light red, R20 and R22, at the tops of the hills gradually fading it into the green grass. This helped to make the flower fields look more lush and full of blooms when I dotted in R27 and R29 over top and the base was still light enough that I could go in with a bit of green here and there. I then continued extending the background into the distance with a little mountain range colored in more desaturated greens to take advantage of aerial perspective. To complete the card I inked up a large sentiment from the Love Sentiment set in a green ink that matched the grass down front.
Okay, have a wonderful weekend and stay crafty my friends!
Simply beautiful!!
Absolutely beautiful card. I love the colours, the poppy-covered hills and agree that the shirt looks great in white with the thin black stripes.
Absolutely stunning!
