Hello friends!
Amy here with a new Scenic Saturday card. As we near February I can’t help but start to feel the love, especially when it comes to my card making. Roses are such a classic motif of Valentine’s Day and there is a gorgeous oversized rose stamp that is included in the Edgar and Molly Vintage Flower set which I hadn’t inked up yet. Rather than have it be the focal point of my card I went a different route and stamped it repeatedly in a light grey/brown ink that matched the card stock I planned to use. I then used a couple of light pink Copic markers to color only the space between the roses which created a lovely floral print pattern for my background. At first I planned on pairing this background with an elegant Uptown Girl but when my eyes fell on this sweet little Boston pup dressed in her tutu from the Bostons, Pug and Chihuahua set it made me smile to think of her on such a fancy looking print. So I embraced the shift to a sweet pup theme and even found the perfect sentiment in the Dog Sentiment set, which I augmented slightly by replacing one of the stamped words with a die cut version so it would have a bit more impact on the bottom of the card. I like to think of this as a non-traditional card posing as a traditional Valentine. At first glance pairing that rose with one of the dog stamps may seem a bit odd but with just a little twist I think it is quite sweet. So always keep an open mind when it comes to pairing up stamps in your own stamp stash. 🙂
Stay crafty bellas!
Love it, what a cute idea for a valentine.
What a great idea…especially for all the dog lovers in your life! I really love the colors too…soft and subtle, so the Boston really stands out. Thank you!
this is just too cute
this card is adorable!
This is adorable! I love it!
Wish I had a Sheltie stamp..I would make this valentine for my husband from our dog Skye. She and the cat have to come up with something for their papa.
Oh my goodness! How adorable is this card. Gotta have it. Thanks for sharing.
Love that rose flower background. So classy. The little Boston in a Tutu is a hoot.
I just “woof this”
