Www.stampingbella.com: rubberstamp used : curvy girl with a jar of hearts card by Amy young

Hello friends!

Love is in the air on this week’s Scenic Saturday card. Since Valentine’s Day is going to be here before we know it, I’ve been leaning towards all things lovey dovey when it comes time to choose which stamps to create with. Curvy Girl with a Jar of Hearts totally needed to get on a card this year so I grabbed her up and got to stamping. I love how tall the Curvy Girls are and how they really fill a card front. To play up her height I thought it would be fun to stamp her on a mini slimline sized base and pull the focus even more onto this lovely gal. As I thought about a color scheme for this card, I really wanted the little escaping hearts to be bright pops of red. To make sure they didn’t get lost I figured that coloring this Curvy Girl in monochromatic grey scale would be a cool change of pace and it’s something that I haven’t done in some time. So I grabbed all of my W (warm grey) Copics and proceeded to color her, the jar she is holding and some shading beneath her feet to help ground her into the scene. You might notice that I also sketched in part of her dress and arm that would fall on the other side of the clear glass jar I was coloring to really play up the see-through glass effect. I kept the background simple by using a stencil to air brush in another layer of hearts, this time in very light pinks. The sentiment is part of the Love Sentiment set and I stamped it at the top of the card using a red ink that matched the red hearts. You might have also noticed that I added in a bunch more of those little red hearts because I really wanted them to look like an explosion of love filling up the space above her. All of this came together to create a pretty little Valentine in no time at all, which can be great for those days you find yourself short on crafty time.

Much love bellas!

  1. cute card; I like the pink heart background with additional floating red hearts, but I think you adding in the dress line and other hand behind the glass is genius. Thank you for sharing.
