Hello, Amy here and it’s a new Scenic Saturday. I am continuing on with my year of flowers featuring the Tiny Townie Garden Girls. April’s flower is Sweet Pea and this darling girl lives up to her name. With her ruffles and cute little top knot pigtails she is just the epitome of sweetness. All of this led me to dive head on into the girly-girl cuteness and go with a pretty pink on her flowers and dress. I then carried that pink into the background as well when I colored in some abstract sweet pea vines growing up either side of the card. This is done by simply stippling in dots of color using the tip of the marker nibs using light pressure for smaller dots and heavier pressure for larger dots. Limiting my color palette to the pink, green and gold combo helps to keep the over-all design very cohesive and I think it brings to mind all the wonderful things about spring. The stippling and limited color palette are both super simple techniques that get a scene card done rather quickly yet still look quite impressive. Proof that you don’t have to spend hours coloring a scene every time you sit down to color. 🙂
Have a great weekend and stay crafty my friends!
A beautiful card… love the background. The coloring texture and colors chosen of this card is so welcoming and give me such a feeling of spring, freshness, happiness and friendship. Thank you for sharing and please stay safe.
Absolutely gorgeous!!! The colors echo sweet peas throughout the card. One of my favorite flowers. TFS
