Hello All, It’s Kathy Racoosin today. How has your summer been so far? Or perhaps winter? Either way you can still get a little sun kissed if you are spending time outdoors. I thought I would share with you how I added a little sunburn to “Thinking Of You Abella”

The cacti and sentiment are from the “Cacti” stamp set. Incidentally I have a video that I created with “Thinking of you Abella in March  … here is the link if you want to check that out. The background was created with a stencil and some Memento “Summer Sky” ink. The images were stamped with Memento “London Fog” ink.

To begin I used E50 and put on a layer of color but, being mindful to leave some areas void of color like her arms and face so that I will have some lighter tones on her skin later.

For the sun kissed look I added some pink tones with the E95.

Pick up your lightest color again and color on top of the pink. I call this colorsmashing. You work the edges so you don’t see any lines.

My usual cheek color is RV10 so I thought I would add some more color with this. (Usually my forehead by the hairline can get a little sunburned so I added pink there too

My E50 is pretty dry so I used some “0” to soften the pink

And when you soften it to much you need to add a little more color. Patience is a virtue right?I think I could have stopped two photos ago depending on how much of a sun burn you want.

I decided to add in a little bit of E41 but, totally not necessary. Oh well I wanted to share my process and that’s usually a discovery for me too lol.

The magic really happens when you do everything else. In this case … eyeshadow, eyeliner, and a hazel color to the eyes.

I hope next time you decide to color a person or critter you add a sun kissed look .. it’s fun with no real sun damage!

Have a great weekend! Hugs, Kathy
