DT Thursday time! Sandie has another awesome make for us to follow along with today.
Score the 4.25″ x 9″ at 4.5″ and set aside.
Score the 6″ x 6″ piece at 3″, flip 90 degrees and score again at 3″ to make 4 equal size squares.
On one side only, score on the diagonal as shown.
Fold, and crease all the score lines with a bone folder.
Cut 4 squares measuring 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Using a corner punch or envelope board, remove the corners from 2 sides of each of the squares, as shown
Cut 2 of the squares diagonally.
Pinch the diagonal scorelines inwards and fold the base into a square.
Crease the scorelines well.
Open the base up and on each of the 3″ intersections, remove the corners.
(I folded the base in half on the 3″ scorelines before punching)
Adhere the triangles to the two sections with the diagonal scorelines.
Adhere the full squares to the other two sections.
Cut 4 patterned paper squares measuring 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″. If you prefer more white showing, you can cut them a little smaller.
As with the white card squares, punch away 2 corners on each and cut 2 diagonally.
Adhere all the patterned paper to the base.
Retrieve the card base and fold in half on the scoreline. Crease with the bone folder.
For the front, cut 1 piece of white card measuring 4 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and patterned paper 1/8″ smaller to layer on top.
For the inside, cut 2 pieces of patterned paper measuring 4 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and stick down.
Add a sentiment or any embellishments desired to the pop up mechanism.
Pinch the diagonal scorelines inwards to make a square.
Apply adhesive to the bottom of the pop up and adhere to the inside of the card base as shown.
Apply adhesive to the top of the pop up and fold down the top of the card over it.
When you pull up the front of the card, it will pop open like this.
For the belly band, take the 2″ x 11″ piece of white card and place it across the front of the card equal distance from either end. (no need to be precise, just eye ball it.) Wrap the ends around the card to make a snug, but not tight, belly band.
Apply double sided tape to the inside of one end and the outside of the other end.
Cut 2 pieces of contrasting patterned paper measuring 1 7/8″ x 4.25″.
Stick one piece to the front of the belly band, and the other on the back.
Stamp Rosie and Bernie onto white card, colour with your desired medium and cut out using a stitched circle die, or any other shape you wish.
Cut a 2nd circle from white card and adhere it to the back of the image to make it more robust.
Stick the image to the belly band only. Make sure it doesn’t stick to the front of the card as you will need to slip the belly band off to open the card.
