Today Sandiebella teaches us how to make a Back to School Folio Card

Supplies:
Designer papers
Black card
Scoring board, bone folder.
Pencil, ruler, eraser
School themed stickers
Magnets
Enamel dots

How to:
Stamp Curvy Girl is Busy onto white blending card and colour using your preferred medium.

Fussy cut around the outline and set aside.

Cut:
Black card:
10″ x 7″ (base)
5″ x 7″ (front flap)
2″ x 5.25″ (small inside pocket)
8.5″ x 4″  & 7.75″ x 3.5″ (booklet pages)
5″ x 5″ (large inside pocket)
Paper:
(4x) 6.75″ x 4.75″ (base)
(2x) 6.75″ x 3.75″ (front flap)
1.75″ x 4.5″ (small inside pocket)
(3x) 4″ x 3.75″, (2x) 3-5/8″ x 3.25″ and (2x) 3-3/8″ x 3.25″ (booklet pages)
4-3/8″ x 4.25″ (large inside pocket)
To make the front flap, score the 5″ x 7″ piece of card at 1″ on the short side

On the larger side, make a notch at 3.5″ along the 7″ side

Turn and make a notch at 1″ on the short side – top and bottom

Cut from the 3.5″ notch to the 1″ notch on the outer edges. Fold in the 1″ score line and burnish well.

Fold the 10″ x 7″ piece in half on the long side to create a 5″ x 7″ card base.

Slide the card base into the flap and adhere the 1″ section of the flap to the back of the card. Open up the card and adhere two of the 6.75″ x 4.75″ pieces of paper.

Take the 5.25″ x 2″ piece of card and score at 0.25″ on each of the short sides and one of the long sides.

Cut away the corners.

Fold in both side and burnish well, then apply a little dot of glue to the bottom 0.25″ section and fold up.

Apply adhesive to the sides and adhere the pocket at the bottom of the inside left page.

To make the booklet, fold the 8.5″ x 4″  & 7.75″ x 3.5″ pieces of card in half. Round the outer edges.

Apply adhesive to the back of the larger pages and adhere down on the inside left, leaving approx 0.75″ gap between it and the pocket at the bottom of the page. Adhere the paper layers to the inside and outside.

Score the smaller pages approx 0.25″ from the centre fold line.

Apply adhesive ONLY to the 0.25″ section

Adhere down on top of the other pages, lining it up to the score line.

Adhere the paper layers

Take the 5″x 5″ piece of card and score at 0.25″ on three sides.

Measure down 2″ on the left side and cut diagonally from the top right corner to the 2″ mark.

Cut away the corners as before.

Taper down the right 0.25″ section so that it is not visible when folded in.

Adhere the pocket to the inside right page.

Use the pocket to mark the angle for the paper.

Place the 6.75″ x 3,.75″ piece of paper on the inside of the front flap. Using a pencil, mark the centre top and approx 1/8″ down on each side. Cut diagonally from the centre pencil mark down to the outside pencil marks. Repeat on the outside piece.

Before adhering the paper to the inside of the front flap, adhere one side of the magnet down.

Adhere the paper down and then put the other side of the magnet on top. Apply some glue.

Fold down the flap, let it dry for a few minutes and then lift up the flap. This should leave the 2nd magnet piece stuck to the front of the card. Adhere the front paper layer over the magnet.

Cut two stitched pennants approx 6.5″ long and 2.25″ wide. Cut inside the stitches on the paper pennant, and adhere to the black card pennant.

Adhere to the front flap.

Retrieve Curvy Girl is Busy and adhere to the pennants using foam tape/dots.

Use a circle punch and some paper offcuts to add some paper elements.

Embellish the inside using stickers and die cuts. As the card needs to fold up the inside elements need to be kept flat.

Finally, add some enamel dots to finish off.

(1x) 1.5″ x 4″ (centre front panel)
(1x) 2″ x 5.5″ (back centre panel)
(2x) 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ (front diamond panels)

On each of the score lines, measure and mark at 1″ and 2″ – top and bottom.

On the 1″ marks, cut across from the 1″ score line to the 3″ score line, and from the 5.25″ to the 7.25″ score lines. Repeat at the 2″ mark.

Fold back the outer 1″ sections and burnish with a bone folder.

To fold the scored/cut sections start at the top and mountain fold, then valley fold the next one, then mountain, valley and finally mountain. Try not to fold the inner score line on the valley fold sections.

Repeat on both sides.

Adhere the card layers…front.

… and back.

Adhere down the paper layers. The centre section at the back is for writing a greeting, there is no paper layer.

Cut the image out using a stitched circle die. Cut a larger stitched circle from pink card and then a larger scalloped circle from white card. Adhere them together.

Also adhere the paper layers to the 3″ squares.

Turn the square at an angle, line up the side points to the top edges of the centre middle section, and adhere down. Repeat with the second diamond, lining the side points up with the bottom of the middle front section.

Stamp the sentiment onto a strip on white card and cut out using a ribbon label die. If you don’t have a die, fishtail the ends of a 0.75″ x 3.75″ strip of card with a scissors.

Adhere the sentiment to the bottom front section.

Birdhouse Card

Hiya sistahs, happy Thursday with Sandiebella !

Today Sandiebella teaches us how to make a Birdhouse Card!

Supplies:
Kraft Card
Designer Paper
Scoring board, bone folder/stylus, pencil, ruler, eraser.
Hexagon Dies
How to:
Stamp two birds and two branches from the Oddball Birds stamp set. Colour using your preferred medium, then fussy cut around the outline.

Take the tallest bird and adhere to a 2.25″ strip of card. Set all the images aside to work on the card.

Card base:
Kraft – 11″ x 4.25″
White card –  4″ x 5.25″ (x3) – front, back, and inside front
Designer paper – one each of 4″ x 5.25″ and 3.75″ x 5″ – front and inside back.

Card Stand:
Kraft – 4″ x 2″

Hexagon Dies – 2-5/8″W and 2-1/8″W

Score the 11″ x 4.25″ piece of kraft card on the long side at 5.5″

Make a notch at 3″ and 7″, top and bottom of the card base. When the card base is folded these will be 1.5″ down each side.

Fold the card base in half and on the closed end make a notch at 2-1/8″. Flip over to the other side and again make a notch at 2-1/8″.

Score from one 3″ notch, diagonally through the 2-1/8″ mark, down to the 7″ notch on the opposite side.

Repeat on the other side to create an X as shown.

Take the 4″ x 5.25″ (card front) piece of white card and mark at 2″ on the 4″ side and 1-7/8″ down on each side. Cut from the 2″ mark diagonally to the outside pencil marks. Repeat these steps with the the other two pieces of white card (back and inside front) and the larger piece of designer paper (inside back).
Take the 3.75″ x 5″ (card front) piece of designer paper, mark at 1-7/8″ at the top and 1.75″ down each side. Cut from the centre mark, diagonally to 1.75″ pencil marks.

Adhere the white card and the small designer paper together.

Place the larger hexagon die approx 1.5″ down and centred horizontally. Run through a die cutting machine a few times to cut through both layers.

Adhere the panel to the card front. Reposition the hexagon die and cut out the kraft card.

Take another of the white card pieces and position it inside the front of the card – DO NOT GLUE DOWN. Holding the white card in place, turn over to the front and draw a feint pencil line around the inside of the hexagon shape. Place the smaller hexagon die in the centre of the pencil outline and run though the die cutting machine.

Adhere the card piece inside the card font, centering the white border.

Adhere the paper layer on the inside back.

Fold the diagonal score lines on the card base and crease well with a bone folder. Valley fold the 5.5″ centre score line and pinch in the top of the card. Crease the score lines again.

Take the 4″ x 2″ piece of kraft card and score at 0.5″, 1″, and 1.5″ on the 2″ side.

Mountain valley fold into an M

Apply adhesive to one side and adhere to the inside back of the card, flush to the bottom. Apply adhesive other side and fold the card front down. Use wet glue to give you some wiggle room to line up the ends.

Take the third white card piece and stamp the sentiment from the I Miss Your Face Sentiments set. Adhere to the back of the card.

Take the bird attached to the strip of card and apply adhesive to the bottom part of the strip.

Slide the strip into the card, position the bird with it’s feet over the edge of the hexagon, and adhere the strip to the inside of the card front.

Adhere the branches and the other bird to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment from the Encouragement Sentiments set, cut out using a shaped die. Punch a hole on the end and tie some thread/string through it and into a bow.

Adhere the sentiment to the birdhouse using foam tape.
