Thursday with Sandiebella: Create a Tunnel Shadow Box Card

Join our amazing Sandiebella today to create a Tunnel Shadow Box Card!

Tunnel Shadow Box Card

Supplies:
Card
Circle Dies
Pennant Dies
Waves Background Stencil
Underwater themed embellishments of choice
Adhesive
Scoring board and bone folder
How to:
Stamp all four fish in the Oddball Fish Set onto white card and colour with your desired medium.

Cut the fish out using the coordinating dies and set them aside to make the card.

Cut two pieces of card measuring 8.5″ x 11″

Score one of the pieces at 0.5″, 4.25″ and 4.75″. Set aside. Score the other piece at 4.25″, on the long side, to make the card base.

Cut 0.5″ off the back section of the card base, as shown.

Cut another piece of card measuring just a shade under 5.5″ x 4.25″. Score at 0.25″ on the short side, flip 180 degrees and score at 0.25″ on the other side.

Retrieve the larger piece with the 3 scorelines and, with the 0.5″ scoreline on the left, cut a circle from the middle panel, slightly top centre.

Take the piece of card with the 0.25″ scorelines on each end and slide it behind the panel you just cut the cirlce from, lining up the scorelines.

Position the smaller circle die in the middle, and use tape to secure it.

Cut out the circle.

When you place the smaller piece behind the larger piece it should look like this.

Flip the large piece over so that the circle is on the right and, using peacock feathers oxide distress ink and a waves stencil, create an underwater background.

This is what it looks like when it’s closed up.

Apply double sided tape to the 0.25″ sections of the smaller piece.

Remove the tape liner from the right hand side, position it inside the larger piece so that the edge lines up with the 4.75″ scoreline. Fold over the front of the tunnel and press firmly.

The inner piece should be adhered between the 4.25″ and 4.75″ scorelines.

At this point you want to adhere the tunnel mechanism to the card base. Apply double sided tape to the inside back of the base and adhere the section with the stenciled waves to it, ensuring it goes right up to the centre scoreline.

Fold over the inner panel and remove the tape liner from the tape. Fold over the piece with the larger circle and press down firmly.

Apply double sided tape to the 0.5″ section of the outer circle panel.

Remove the tape liner and fold over the front of the card base, pressing firmly to adhere it securely.

When you pull open the front you should have the tunnel effect as shown.

Retrieve the fish and adhere three of them, and the underwater embellishments, to each layer of the tunnel. Stamp the sentiment onto white card and cut out using a pennant die. Adhere the sentiment beneath the circles.

To decorate the front of the card cut a piece of white card measuring 4″ x 5.25″ and a piece of patterned paper 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ and adhere them together.

Cut a white circle using the smaller circle die and embellish as desired. Stamp the other sentiment onto white card and cut out using a pennant die to fishtail the ends.

Adhere the circle, using 3D foam, to the front of the card.

Finally, adhere the last fish, using more 3D foam tape, down onto the circle.
