How to:

I found this great tie shaped gift  box online and thought it would make a great Father’s Day gift. I used PDF templates (linked in the supply list) and then added my own layers to it to decorate.
Print out the PDF templates and use them to cut and score the box top and bottom.

Fold all the scorelines inwards except each end of the top which need to be folded out, as shown.

Glue all the tabs to the inside and the two end tabs to the outsides as shown. This helps the box keep it’s shape.

Taking the box top template, cut out the tie shape

On the back of your patterned paper, trace the tie shape with a pencil and cut out at about 1/8″ inside the lines.

Adhere the tie shape to the front of the box.

From the patterned paper cut –

2x    5/8″ x 2 7/8″ (long sides)
2x    5/8″ x 1 7/8″ (shorter sides)
2x    5/8″ x 2.25″ (top middle)
1x    5/8″ x 1 3/8″ (top outer)
Adhere all the paper pieces to the box top.

Assemble the bottom of the box and ensure they fit together.

For the bottom of the box cut some patterned paper layers

2x   1 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
2x   1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″
2x   1 7/8″ x 2.25″
1x   1 7/8″ x 2 1/8″

Adhere all the pieces to the box base.

Stamp the Father’s Day Chick rubber stamp onto white card and colour with desired medium.

Cut out using the Father’s Day Chick CUT-IT-OUT Die

Stamp the sentiment and cut out using a pennant die. Lay the sentiment across the box and the widest part and cut with a scissors to match the angles of the box. Don’t adhere it yet.

Cut the bottom of the tie off the image.

Apply foam dots to the back of the image and the piece of the tie.

Curl the sentiment over your fingers and bend the ends slightly so that they are flat.

Apply glue only to the ends of the sentiment and adhere to the box.

Stick the chick to the box, sliding it slightly under the sentiment.

Adhere the piece of tie beneath the sentiment.

To finish and secure the box, wrap some twine around the narrowest part and tie in a bow.
