Thursday with Sandiebella: Create a Hidden Message Slider Card

Sandie has another awesome step by step today, this time with a festive theme! Perfect if you’re trying to get ahead!

Hidden Message Slider Card

Supplies:

White card
Christmas themed designer papers
Score board and bone folder
Pencil and ruler
Craft knife
Twine
How to:
First make a card front from white card measuring 4″ x 5.25″ and paper measuring 3 7/8″ x  5 1/8″.

Turn the card front over, measure in 0.75″ on all four sides and mark with a pencil as shown.

On the long side, cut from the top 0.75″ mark to the bottom one, on both sides.

On the short side, if you used two different papers, decide which is is the bottom and cut across in between the 0.75″ marks.

Place the card front on a scoring board with the bottom on the left, and score at 1.25″, 2 7/8″ and 4.5″

Mountain/valley fold the centre piece as shown.

Cut a tag approx 3″ x 4.5″ and a strip of printer/copier paper approx 3/8″ x 7″

To make a stabiliser for the tag, wrap the copier paper around the tag loosely and glue the ends together. Slide the tag out of the stabiliser.

Apply double sided tape along the outer edges of the sides and bottom of the card front, and also along the bottom section of the slider. Do not remove the backing yet.

Adhere the tag stabiliser at the top.

Punch a semi circle at the top of the card front (optional)

Slide the tag through the stabiliser.

Note: due to the shape of this particular tag (shoulders are low). I had to add a second stabiliser below the first one,  just under the 0.75″ mark, adhering it just on each side of the slider.

Remove the tape backing from the bottom of the slider and adhere it flush with the bottom of the tag.

Cut a card base measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″ and adhere the card front to it. Pull up the tag to reveal the message window, then stamp the sentiment.

Thread some white string through the top of the tag to make it easier to pull it up. Set the card aside to work on the image.

Stamp Rudolph onto some white card and colour with your desired medium.

Use the co-ordinating CUT-IT-OUT die or, if you don’t have the die, fussy cut using a precision scissors

Make a focal panel measuring 3.75″ x 3″. Decorate as desired and adhere Rudolph with foam tape/dots. When adhering the panel to the slider, ensure to only apply glue to the middle section (above the glue strip) of the sliding mechanism.

Add some enamel dots if desired.

I love this but it looks too complicated for me to make it. I’d have to watch a video of you making it a few times before I could do it. I do love it though. Thanks for showing it to us!
