Thursday with Sandiebella: Create a Happy Dance Squidgy Explosion Card

I don’t know about you, but I’m absolutely doing a happy dance at the sight of another fab tutorial from Sandiebella!

Happy Dance Squidgy Explosion Card

Supplies:

White Card
Patterned papers
Scoring board and bone folder
Circle, scalloped circle & tag dies
Enamel dots
White twine

How to:

To make the explosion mechanism, cut one piece of card measuring 6″ x 6″
Score at 3″, turn 90 degrees and score at 3″ again.

Score diagonally on one side.

Fold and crease the scorelines, both ways, to loosen to card.

Push in the squares with the scoreline across the middle to fold the mechanism.

Once closed, use the bone folder to crease the edges.

To make the card base, cut a piece of card measuring 4.5″ x 9″ and fold in half to make a 4.5″ square.

Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper measuring 4 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ and adhere to the inside of the card base.

Set aside.

Cut four 2.75″ x 2.75″ pieces of white card and four 2.5″ x 2.5″ pieces of patterned paper. Cut two pieces of card and two pieces of paper diagonally, paying attention to the direction of the design on the patterned paper.

Adhere the panels to the explosion mechanism. Set aside.

Stamp the Happy Dance Squidgy onto white card and colour using your desired medium.

Decorate the front of the card base, using die cut circles and a tag. Lay everything into place without sticking them down and move pieces around as desired.

Add some white twine through the top of the tag.

Take the explosion mechanism and fold up. Apply adhesive to one side of it.

Position the mechanism glue side down, into the centre of the card base and press down firmly.

Apply adhesive to the top panel.

Fold the top of card base down and press firmly until the explosion mechanism is stuck in place.

Pull up the top of the card base to reveal the explosion.

Stamp the sentiment from Happy Dance Squidgy and cut out using a square die so that it fits in the top ‘diamond’. Add a piece of plain white card to the bottom diamond to write a personal message. Decorate with a heart.

To make the Best Friend sentiment, cover all the other words in the Uptown Girl Snapshots I Heart You sentiment with double sided tape. Ink the sentiment and then remove the double sided tape. Only the words ‘Best Friend’ will have ink on them. Stamp it onto a piece of white card and cut out using a banner die, or cut into a strip and fishtail the ends with a scissors.
