Thursday with Sandiebella: Create a Flip Up Christmas Card

Sandie has another fantastic Christmas themed step by step for us today!

Flip Up Christmas Card

Supplies:

White card
Holiday themed papers (Carta Bella; Santas Workshop used)
Rectangle die
Scoring board and bone folder
Brad
Glitter dots to embellish

First cut a card base measuring 4.75″ x 5.75″. This can be resized to suit your needs.

Cut a white panel measuring 4.5″ x 5.5″ and two pieces of paper measuring 4 3/8″ x 5 3/8″

Put the 2 pieces of paper on top of each other and place a rectangle die in the centre. Secure with some tape and run though a die cutting machine. Keep the rectangles from the centre to use later.

Centre one of the papers on the white card panel to position the rectangle die. Secure with some tape.

Place the top plate over the die, ensuring it doesn’t cover the top of the die as you only want to cut through the bottom and the two sides.

At the top of the rectangle, where the die didn’t cut, score between the outer cut lines.

Fold and crease the scoreline.

Take the 2 papers you cut earlier and cut one in half. Glue onto the bottom half of the card base, ensuring it is lined up with the rectangle in the centre.

Repeat for the top half with the second paper.

Alternatively, you can use just one paper and glue it on in one piece.

Using a stamping platform, place the card front on the base, without gluing it down. Secure with the magnets and stamp the sentiment into the middle of the rectangle. Set the base and card front aside.

Stamp Bundle Girl Skater with Penguins onto white card and colour using your desired medium.

Cut the images out using the coordinating CUT-IT-OUT Dies

Take one of the rectangles from the centre of the paper and trim it down on each edge so that when it’s placed on the front flap, there is a small white border all around. Glue it down and decorate the flap as desired.

Place a medium sized brad, in the centre, on the bottom of the card base. Ensure some of brad overhangs the centre rectangle as this catches the flip up mechanism.

Apply foam tape around all four edges.

(eagle eyes will notice I stamped a penguin on the card base, beneath the sentiment)

Colour the penguin beneath the sentiment.

Cut a pennant about 1.5″ long from the paper, and adhere the penguin one end.

Adhere the penguin on the bottom right of the rectangle as shown. Adhere the Bundle Girl Skater down using 3D foam tape.

Add some white glitter dots to embellish.
