Thursday with Sandiebella: Create a Corner Flip Card

Sandie has got another fantastic step by step card tutorial for us today!

Corner Flip Fold Card

Supplies:

White Card
Designer paper
Scoring board and bone folder
Pencil, ruler and eraser
Enamel Dots
Circle Dies
Pennant Die
How to:
Cut a piece of card 8.5″ x 5.5″ and score on the long side at 4.25″. This is the card base.

If you have a paper trimmer that allows you to cut anywhere along the card:

Align the left edge of the card base at 3″ on the trimmer and bring the blade down to 2.5″. Cut from the 2.5″ mark to 4 7/8″. Turn the card base 90 degrees clockwise, and align at 3″ on the trimmer. Bring the blade down to the 3″ mark and cut up to 5/8″.
Alternatively, if your trimmer only allows you to cut from the edge:
Cut a 3″ x 3″ square. Measure in 5/8″ in on the bottom right and mark with a pencil. Measure down 5/8″ from the top left and mark with a pencil. This is your template.

On the card front align the 3″ square template with the top right hand corner. Draw a pencil line from one 5/8″ mark to the other.

Cut along the pencil lines using a craft knife. Use the eraser to get rid of the pencil lines if desired.

Take the top right corner and fold inwards, ensuring it’s parallel with the centre scoreline of the card base. Use a bone folder to crease the folds.

Fold the card base in half and it should look like this.

To make layering panels, cut a piece of white card measuring 5.25″ x 4″. Measure in 0.25″ from the top left corner and 1 5/8″ up from the bottom right corner and mark with a pencil. Cut diagonally from the top left pencil mark to the bottom right pencil mark.

Repeat with a piece of patterned paper, but trim it down so that you have about 1/8″ border of white card all around.

Open up the folded corner and adhere the panels to the front, ensuring you don’t apply any glue where the opening is.

Apply a dab of glue to the top right corner, fold the corner back down and adhere to the base.

Cut two 3″ x 3 ” squares and one 3.5″ x 3.5″ square from white card and one 3.25″ x 3.25″ square from designer paper. Cut the 3.5″ x 3.5″  white square and the 3.25″ x 3.25″ patterned paper square  diagonally to make the front triangle panel. (the front triangle panel is optional as most of it is covered up.) Set the other half of the patterned paper aside to use on the inside of the card.

Cut two 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″ square pieces of patterned paper.

Adhere the 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″ square pieces of patterned paper to the 3″ squares of white card. Open the card base and on the inside, adhere one square aligning it with the outer edges of the flip corner. Repeat for the outside of the card.

Cut a piece of contrasting patterned paper measuring 4″ x 5.25″ for the inside of the card. Set the card aside to work on the image.

Stamp the Tiny Townie Hoola Hooper onto white card and colour using your desired medium.

Copic markers used:

Skin – E00, E11, E04, R21
Hair – E71, E74, ,E77
Dress/Hairband – YR14, YR16, YR18
Hoola Hoop – BG05, BG07
Shoes – C3, C8
Dots – White gel pen.

Use the coordinating  CUT-IT-OUT Dies, or fussy cut with a precision scissors

Cut a 2.75″ circle from white card and a 2.5″ circle from patterned paper and adhere them together.

Stamp the Birthday Sentiment onto white card and cut out using a pennant die. You can also cut a strip and fishtail the ends if you don’t have a pennant die.

Adhere the circles down onto the 3″ square using foam tape and then adhere the image onto the circles using foam tape. This adds loads of dimension to the card.

Trim the sentiment pennant to the width of the card and stick it down on the bottom section of the card.

To embellish, add enamel dots, sequins or pearls, etc.

On the inside, adhere a white piece of card measuring 3″ x 4.25″ into the centre of the patterned paper, ensuring that when the card is closed, it can’t be seen.

To finish the card, take the triangle of patterned paper you set aside earlier and trim it down to make a pocket on the white panel inside. It’s the perfect size for a gift card.
