the tales of DESPEREAUX and some EYE candy and BLOG candy

Sistahs!

Happy new year to you all!  We had a great new years eve.. wanna know what we did?  K, I’ll tell you.  My girlfriends Caryn and Melissa and I ordered dinner and went to Mel’s house ( Oh ya, the kidlets and the hubs’ were there too 🙂

We each had our laptops and our toys (IPOD ITOUCH’s) and were downloading applications (including the price is right and deal or no deal) and then we tried to figure out how to download movies.. this was not an easy feat sistahs.  We all didnt know how to do it.. we were figuring out brakelite, squidoo (??) and other websites to facilitate these downloads to no avail.. Melissa is stil downloading her first movie..lol and it is 3 days later.  Needless to say, I MISS that dining room table where lots of laughter, drinks and cake was shared by all!  We had an absolutely FAB-O time.. New Years day, a group of our friends went to see the tales of DESPEREAUX.. a new movie out for the kidlets

who can resist this FACE????

who can resist this FACE????

I am in LOVE with this little gentleman.. and that is WHO he is.. a little gentleman full of bravery and fearlessness.  Not your “typical” mouse i tell ya. The movie itself is a  little long but just looking at that mousie’s face makes it well worth it.  So if you have little ones that would enjoy this movie, please take them and give a SMOOCHIE to despereaux from DA BELLA will ya?

Guess what we did after DA MOVIE?  We returned with our laptops to Mel’s house and resumed positions at that fateful dining room table and ate leftovers.  We still tried to figure out HOW TO DOWNLOAD da movies and laughed throughout cuz it didn’t work.  hmph.  double hmph.

Some new years resolutions

Be happy with who I am. (and diet)

Enjoy EVERY moment (and diet)

Save money (keep dreaming AND DIET)

create BEEYOOOTIFUL things (and diet whilst (lol on the whilst) doing so)

Take more photos (and then look at them to make sure I diet…LOL)

Keep bringing in the most amazing finds and great product (and diet)

Give charity (food so i can diet)

My family has dubbed 2009 “Back to Basics” year. Basically, we have decided, as a family, to focus on the basic important things in our lives and let all the other “stuff” come second. Less tv, more books and games, more family time, less eating out, healthy eating, and for me better diet and exercise.

  9. Sounds like you had a fabulous New Year’s with your amigas! DH and I have just been sitting around watching movies for the last few days 🙂 One of my New Year’s resolutions is to work on my scrapbooks regularly, and that’s one I’ve already started on. I also want to go to the gym regularly but I know I can’t diet…so I just need to cut back some on the sweets. Trying to come up with realistic goals here! 🙂

  10. Robb_eeie says:

Hi Emily …. Thank you for posting those charming creations by Ms. Nicky; ~ **STUNNING**~

My New Years’ Resolution is to live each day, each moment, to my fullest ability. There is a saying [author unknown] that I have displayed in my stamp room, that depicts exactly this thought. It reads:

“LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE BREATHS WE TAKE,
BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE OUR BREATH AWAY.”

  11. Chris says:

    3. PRINT 10 photos a month, for me and to give away to family. I take around 200 or more a month.. but never print them 🙁
    4. Give more of ME to my friends.
    5. be thankful for what I have and reflect more on that

My resolutions? Some are more personal, but I want to spend lots of time improving my stamping, some of my stamping time with my husband, and, like you Em, the diet thing is always in the back of my mind…sigh…wouldn’t it be nice to lose those last 25 pounds and never think about it again? Someday…why not 2009? (fingers crossed!)

The happiest new year to you and yours, sweet friend! Mwah!

Have a great one, say hi to nicky for me and see you soon….

  38. Ann I. says:

Happy New Year! I want to be able spend less $$ this year but the temptation always gets the better of me! Seeing those adorable cards makes me want to break my resolution and it’s only day #3 of the New Year!! I have no willpower when it comes to spending on stamps! 🙂

  39. StampinCathy says:

    Love the eye candy!
I’m doing only one resolution this year and I hope that it will help in all areas. Sounds good right? Ok one word….FOCUS!
If I focus that should help with be more organized, finishing what I started, having more time to play, and of course to find that small body inside my body saying…..I WANT OUT! Thanks for a chance.

  40. callie says:

OMG… Sistah… we’re taking our little ones to see Despereaux today! I can’t wait. I read the book to a group of Third graders while I was substitute teaching last year and I can’t wait to see the movie!! I may be more excited than my little ones…hehehe

Okay… my New Years resolutions…. The big one is to work harder at being true to myself. Looking over the last few years I realized that there were more times than I would like to admit where I changed something about myself to be the person that someone else wanted me to be. Well NO MORE!! I’m me and if you don’t like it, well then, you can just NOT like me…..

That and I want to focus more on organization. My craft room for example, currently looks like a tornado when through it and I could definitely use some crafty therapy today. Instead, I’ll be spending the day cleaning and organizing it so that I can craft tomorrow!

    Happy new Year!!

  41. Dawn Nikol says:

    I resolve to be happy.

  42. My top goal this year is to strengthen my relationship with the Lord and spend a portion of my everyday with Him! Oh…a diet would be a good thing for me too! Haha!

  43. Emily says:

I definitely get the dieting thing. I am getting back on the WW bandwagon and have joined a WL Challenge with some friends.
Mostly I resolve to get more organized now that I am working again and map out time to craft so I can do fun things too.
AND exercise (now that is a bad word for sure… but we all need to).
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  44. Lisa says:

Resolutions! Wow, I hadn’t really thought about them until I saw your question. I guess people don’t ask like they used to! I am going to help my family be healthier, including myself. We need to get out more, enjoy the outdoors (esp. since we live in sunny Florida!). The kids are 11 & 13, it won’t be long until they truly have their own lives to live and Mom & Dad won’t be included! I personally want to finish scrapbooking our Med. cruise from 2006 – I have a good start but need to ‘resolve’ to finish it. Thanks for asking and getting my mind whirling! I hope you have a wonderful and safe 2009!

  45. Christine Blossom says:

I’m resolving to be a better wife and mom, and have more fun with my kids.

I’m resolving to keep the house neater and stop sitting on the couch watching soaps when I could be scrapbooking, making cards or knitting.

I’m resolving to actually use on the cardmaking and scrapbooking stuff my husband spent so much money on is 2008.

I’m resolving to clean up my act and get organized so I can use my scrapbook room for its intended purpose.

    Happy New Year!!

  46. Susan W. says:

Emily you are too funny. LOL
This year I resolve to have a better year than last year. Trust me it won’t be that hard because I don’t have a house to sell, a BF to break up with, or need to buy a new car. So I plan to get some more storage, and a desk, and organize all my stuff, then order only what I need or just can’t live without.
    Happy New Year to all!!

  47. Amber says:

I don’t have a resolution but rather I am focusing on one word. That word for me is discipline. I am learning to discipline myself to stay focused, finish tasks and enjoy my wonderful life and all the wonderful people I have in it.

I usually don’t do New Year’s Resolutions because I don’t usually follow them very well. I lasted til March last year on one of the resolutions I am going to put down yet again. Here are some of my goals.

    2) Find a nice guy
    3) Move out of my parent’s house
    4) Stay more organized
    5) No more buying of paper (hopefully this will last longer than March this year)

    Send more RAKs.
Set a schedule for crafting and house cleaning.
    De-clutter our basement.
Get a piece of my work published.
Start setting up a date night with my husband.
Add more fun into my life!

  89. BarbW. says:

Hi Em. Sounds like you had a great time. I spent New Year’s Eve day with my best friend Susan, gabbing & playing with some of our new “toys” & then the hubbies joined us for dinner. By the time we finished eating our huge pot roast with all the trimmings & TWO desserts, we just barely managed to roll away from the table. An hour later, we dug into candies, chocs, nuts and all that wonderful crap that is sooooo essential to life as we know it. However, the next day my poor bod was screaming, “why, oh why”? Anyway, my one New Year’s Resolution is this – don’t eat more garbage than you can handle. Which I will probably forget by this time next week.

Happy New Year to All…………..and may 2009 be better than ever@!

  91. Hapy New Year EMily! I got an iphone for Christmas and have also been trying to figure out to download movies! No luck, but did get The Price is Right and Tetris. We took our kiddies to Deperaux on New Years day too. Sooo cute. My new year’s resolution I guess is to finally lose my baby weight. Started my diet on Friday – I’m up to my ears in veggies!!! Also, I want to run the NYC marathon in the fall (along with a little shoppin’). See ya this week I hope!

  92. Oh yeah – I also LOOOOVE Nicky’s cards today! She’s da bomb!

  93. Jean in NH says:

I resolve to get a new job! This one is eating my brain!

  94. Dawn B. says:

My goal for 2009 is to purge the clutter in the basement so I can have a room of my own to create in and my boys can have a place where they actually want to go play. The plans have been made now the real work begins!

  95. Hey, Em! Sounds like I need to take the boys to see a certain movie! Will do, and I’ll give you my review…

As for resolutions, well, my main one is to honor the promises I make to myself (which of course include exercising and losing weight… 😉 ) and to take them as seriously as the ones I make to others. I also want/need to get my craft room organized and keep it that way, and to systematize certain ‘problem areas’ (i.e. laundry!) Nothing too fancy, but if I can achieve these, I see huge quality-of-life benefits for both me and my family.

LOVE the new images and can’t wait to place an ordah soon! Happy New Year Hugs to you, my friend.

  96. Tracy says:

Mmmm You sound like me…. should diet but wont make that a resolution, cause I love food too much!! LOL
So will have to stick with…. save up money and finally place orders with overseas stamping shops, and …
maybe loose a little weight for an upcoming wedding which I have to squeeze my big natural boobs, arse and any others woobly bits into a strapless bridesmaid dress… miracles do happen you know LOL

my new years resolution is to get my clinical license for work before september!

  99. Patty W says:

Em your posts make me laugh – I love them!!!! I love them and can sympathize big time, as you can guess, my resolution is to diet diet diet. Eat better, eat healthier, eat good stuff more often and crap less often! I would try for not at all but we all know that ain’t happenin’! And notice I didn’t put exercise – I already know dieting for me is easier than exercise, I know you’re supposed to do both but hey one is better than none, right? All the best to you, Ryan, the kidlets and the shop for the new year and good luck and willpower for that resolution we (and so many others) share!

  100. Angela Garcia says:

I need to send out all the birthday cards I make for family on time this year. I make them, then they sit at my house for too long.

  101. Vicki Burns says:

Resolution #1: quit thinking of “diet” as a 4-letter word! LOL My DH, DD, and I started Weight Watchers Nov. 1st. So I resolve to be patient with myself and keep moving forward without feeling unrivaled animosity towards my scale. LOL

Resolution #2: Inspire Em to adopt Resolution #1. LOL

Resolution #3: love the people in my life more than the things in my life. Don’t just say I love them, but SHOW them,

Resolution #4: Break the stereotype of a grandma~I want to be anything other than an old fuddy duddy! LOL

    Happy New Year!

  102. Janet says:

2009 is my year of healthy living – healthy diet, exercise, lots of laughs with my friends and family! Of course plenty of stamping with the Bellas!!!

  108. Dee says:

Adorable cards! I can’t for my next order!!

  109. Jennifer says:

My resolution is to finally get a blog up and running! Wish mme luck! =)

  110. Jessica Budd says:

My word for the year is honesty. Honesty with those around me about how I feel and what I need. I know this sounds selfish to those who do not know my situation but my husband and I are full time caregivers of his mom. Honesty with my DH about our finances. Honesty with the Lord in all things.

I have also resolved to learn how to use my new Cuttlebug and use it to it’s full advantage.

  111. Since every woman says “diet”, I’m not even gonna go with that. (its a given!) In 2009 I plan to ease up on myself more and accept things that I cannot change immediately. I plan to ease up on my husband some, too, and not put so much pressure on him to do everything the exact same way I do when it comes to taking care of our autistic twin 3 yr olds, the other 3 kids, and the house. I guess overall, I plan to CHILL OUT and LIVE LOVE and LAUGH more! =)

  112. Darsana says:

    Em,
Happy New Year and good luck on the diet. My resolution (I only made one) is to be better to those that I love. It’s amazing how I can be so patient, and kind to a complete stranger, and than treat my family like they just crawled out of a dung pile, just becasue they can’t read my mind and know exactly what I want or need. I will be more patient, less crabby, and more loving to my family. After all if it wasn’t for them, I would be alone! I feel pretty good about the cards and the amount of stamping I did last year, and I balanced myself pretty well. So I need to maintain that and grow at the same pace. Eventually I will be able to make time for it all. So without further ado, I wish Em and all the Bella sistahs a wonderful New Year and I hope you all have much success in your resolutions. If you fall, just pick yourself up and start over and there is no shame it that. Remember Em, you can always start a diet halfway through a bag of chips, or M & M’s, or whatever you love the most and tend to overindulge in. MWAH to the sisters that try!

  113. Karyn says:

Hi Em! This year I’m resolving to get my home more organized-especially my scrap and stamp area! It seems I’ve done soooo much shopping…lol.

Great eye candy-and that movie looks so cute! I am hoping to take DD to see it.

  114. carisa says:

My ’09 resolution is to lose weight & be healthy. I lost 25lbs in 8 wks just before the holidays and managed to keep it off thru the holidays. Now I want to get back into it with a passion again so I can get to my goal weight. I have about 60lbs to go. That is why I have been intent on getting Weightwatchabella and was so excited when I got her from a SS. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  115. Ezmina says:

My resolution is to make time for myself and enjoy the liitle things in life.

Happy New Year & what super duper cuties they are. My new years resolution is to craft more, read more, love my family even more & love life more. Plan time for all the “to do’s” so I can get more fun time.

  120. Jodi (mommy to 4) says:

Happy New Year Em! The main thing I would like to do is to get more organized ~ with 4 kids and 3 businesses, things get a little hectic. I would also like to get rid of the clutter around the house ~ this is a tough one, the kids have so many toys, and don’t really want to give up anything, meanwhile, our house has become Toys R Us.

I would also just like to make sure that I spend enough quality time with my kids ~ they grow up too quickly and I want to enjoy the times when they still want Mom around.

  121. Angela says:

    My New Year’s Resolutions:

    1) get my husband back to Canada
    2) lose weight
    3) stamp more
    4) Enjoy life.
