She’s just so cute in her star patterned dress, and she comes with two great sentiments. Our FRIGHTFUL & DELIGHTFUL SENTIMENT SET would also work well with her!

Scenic Saturday with Amybella: Squishy Owl Scene

Hello bellas!

Amy here with a card celebrating the start of spooky season for this Scenic Saturday. As soon as September hits and the nights start to get a chill in the air I’m all about welcoming Halloween and all of the fun and mischief that goes along with it. I was inspired by the recent Crazy Tuesday sale that included this adorable SQUISHY OWL stamp in the savings, and finally inked up this silly trio of jacks and jack o’lantern wannabe.

As I was thinking about what kind of scene to create for them, I ended up taking a cue from the fact that he is an owl and borrowed the branch from the ODDBALL BIRD set for him and his pumpkin pals to rest on. Next, I had to decide what to include in the background. Would we see some landscape back there? A forest of trees and spooky branches perhaps? Ultimately, I decided that sometimes, less is more, and I grabbed the largest of the Tim Holtz moon masks to create a simple, yet eye catching night sky. Once the owl, pumpkins and branch were all colored I masked them off and laid the large moon right over top. Using the Copic airbrush system I added the dark blue/green sky around it, making sure to lighten the colors as I got closer to the stencil so that once it was removed there appears to be light glowing from the moon. This spotlight effect really brings these fun Halloween characters front and center. To complete the card, I borrowed the sentiment that comes with ODDBALL FRANKENSTEIN and used white embossing powder on a strip of black card stock to add it just below the branch. A sprinkling of enamel embellishments in the same colors used in the scene and this clean and simple card was ready to shine!

Stay crafty my friends!
