Thursdays with Sandiebella

It’s Thursday with Sandiebella!

Hiya sistahs, happy Thursday with Sandiebella !

Today Sandiebella teaches us how to make a  Floating Centre Pop-Up Card

Supplies:
Turquoise card, white card
Designer papers
Scoring board and bone folder
Labels Die
Adhesive
How to:
Stamp the Penguin Family onto white card, colour the two single penguins, then fussy cut around the outline.
Cut card:
Card base – 11.5″ x 5.75″. Score at 5.75″ to make a 5.75″ square card
Floating panel 1 – 8″ x 5″. Score at 4″ on the long side
Floating panel 2 – 4″ x 4″. Score diagonally
Floating panel 3 – 4″ x 4″. Score at 2″
Cut layering panels:
White card:
(4x) Card Base – 5.5″ x 5.5″
(1x) Floating panel 2 – 3.75″ x 3.75″. Cut diagonally
Paper:
(4x) Card Base – 5.25″ x 5.25″
(2x) Floating panel 1 – 3.75″ x 4.75″.
(1x) Floating panel 2 – 3.75″ x 3.75″. Cut diagonally
(2x) Floating panel 3 – 3.75″ x 1.75″.

Adhere the 5.5″ mat layers to the outside and inside of the card.

Adhere the card and paper layers to the rest of the panels except the floating panel 3.

For the spring mechanisms cut 2 pieces of card measuring 0.5″ x 5.5″. Score at 0.5″, 1″, 3″ and 5″

Fold as shown,

Apply adhesive to the 0.5″ section on the end

Adhere to the other end to make an arrow shape. Repeat to make 2 of these.

Adhere the springs to the inside of the card base, narrow ends to each side of the centre score line.

Apply adhesive to the top of one of the springs and adhere the first floating panel to it – lining up the score line with the card base score line.

Apply adhesive to the other spring and then close the card up.

Open the card and the panel should pop up.

For the other four mechanisms, score a piece of 0.5″ x 3.5″ card at 1.25″, 175″ and 2.15″. Fold the score lines to make an M. These can be trimmed down to suit as necessary. For this card I trimmed off half the length.

Adhere the springs as shown below.

Adhere the diagonal panel down, one side at a time.

Close up the card and press gently to ensure all the springs are stuck firmly down.

Take the last layer and create a winter scene.

Adhere to the diagonal panel using the remaining two springs.

Stamp the sentiment on a strip of card and cut out using a label die. Fold in half.

Adhere the sentiment across the bottom of the image panel, then adhere the Penguins, one on each side.

The sentiment can be set to fold inwards or pop out when the card is opened/closed.
