SCENIC SATURDAYS with AMYBELLA

it’s SCENIC SATURDAY with AMYBELLA featuring

www.stampingbella.com: rubber stamp used: CURVY GIRL WITH A COCKTAIL card by Amy Young

Amy here once again and it feels like we got a bonus Scenic Saturday this month with the way the days fell on the calendar, which means more coloring fun and that’s never a bad thing. I figured why not treat this ‘bonus’ card as a party, or to be more exact… a fiesta! Curvy Girl with a Cocktail was just the girl for the occasion. I paired her with the Beach Backdrop and one of the sentiments from the Summer Sentiment set so she could knock back that giant margarita ocean side. As the sun sets below the waves the party is just getting started and I picture Curvy enjoying a live band and plenty of dancing at her vacation resort. She’s gotten all dolled up in the new floral dress she picked up in town and she is feelin’ good. The sentiment became a lit up sign on the edge of the dance floor, encouraging everyone including Curvy to live it up!

To create the dramatic looking sky I began laying down my lightest color, a bright yellow, just above the waves. Then I simply graduated up the card into more orangey yellows, then oranges, red orange, hot pink and dark purple. Now I wasn’t concerned about getting super smooth blends as I wanted a more painterly effect but you still want the colors to meld a bit as they transition from one to another. To make that happen you can’t be afraid to work back and forth taking colors right up into each other with slow, deliberate brush strokes that allow the ink time to really saturate the card stock. The same goes for the water below, especially when you are adding in a strong reflection of sunlight against the blue water.

Alrighty, thanks so much for checking this out today… stay crafty my friends!
