ART JOURNALING TOOSDAY

Inspiration on a VEHERRY rainy day! and AJ TOOSDAY on TOOSDAY!

Hiya sistahs!

I hope you had a great weekend :).. we were invited up north for a little R&R which was beautiful, rearranged my craft room (DON’T ASK).. and got a LOT of crafting done..  I was supposed to have a purgeathon but my craft table has a MAGNET.. I told Ryan that but he didn’t buy it.  HMPH.  We also went to Ikea to get some new goodies to put in there.  PICTURES will come this week to show you the HELL I am in over here.  Anyone wanna come over and help? LOL

So since today is a very GLOOMY day in Toronto, I needed a little bit of inspiration.. so out I went and on my travels I found something that made me VERY happy.. something I can look at every day and smile.  I love collection little bits.. little objects and surround myself with them.  Ryan will be putting a little shelf up so I can put my goodies there.  I also put up a bulletin board which will act as my inspiration board so when I stamp and paint, I always know I have a place to just glance at to make me happy :).

So this is what I bought today to put my long paintbrushes and tools in.. you likey?  I LOVEY his tummy!

There’s something about pottery that I am loving again.. the texture.. the memories.. Pottery was SO HOT in the 70’s wasn’t it?

I was inspired by someone on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago (who isn’t).. and became OBSESSED with making little 3*3 *1.5″ wood blocks into little collage masterpieces..LOL .. they are so much fun to make and collect and put them together on a wall.. I envision a whole big grouping of them!  I have made 8 so far with all vintage papers.. our stamps.. wallpaper etc.. so I thought I would share them with you.. who knows, they may be collectible and for sale one of these days.. *wink wink*

OK so here is one of them that I posted on Instagram a couple of days ago.. I called this one “SEW VERY VINTAGE”

and the side view to show you the SCRUMMALISH (love that word- scrumptious/yummalish combo) vintage wallpaper

This brightens up my rainy day.. YOU?

Now for AJ TOOSDAY!

Our theme this week was animal.. your favorite animal.. etc

Here is Lori/Pinky's page.. LOVE SNOOPY!!!!

Here is Heather's page!

Here is my page using one of my elements from our ART JOURNAL GRUNGE SET #1.. I LOATHE this page..LOL but I am showing it because I want to SHOW you that it's ok to LOATHE your page :).. I tested out some molding paste and it buckled the page.. it looked SO MUCH BETTER before I mucked it up with paint and paste..LOL.. the positive thing is that I love the texture 🙂 and it does look a bit less HORRENDOUS in person..LOL. think I am hard on myself?

So those were our players this week!  Hope we have more next week.. the pages just get better and better as the weeks progress! (ok well, except for mine..LOL)

Next week’s theme… I want you to take out a supply that you are intimidated of/never had a chance to play with.. it can be sprays, pastels, even different black pens to find your favorite one 🙂

Hope to see you next week with your page!

Will show you more bella bitty blocks tomorrow 🙂

If you do follow me on Instagram, i’m sorry for the redundant images 🙂

So my question this week for my sistahs is this.  What do you like to have around you to inspire you?  is it an object, a picture, colour?

Would love to hear from you..  tell me that you’re there actually reading this 🙂

Mwah to da sistahs who place a comment (and even those who don’t 🙂 )

Em

All kinds of things inspire me! I have different pieces of pottery to hold my brushes and pencils, pictures of my girls in the forest looking at and examining things, i have little trays that i put tidbits of stuff in, well the trays are covered in some kind of swirly painterly glaze so when i move the stuff searching for the right tidbit to use I see wonderful swirls of colour underneath!
The other day at the beach I also discovered that I am inspired by sounds more than I realized. I love the sound of childrens laughter, crickets chirping on a warm night, some days the pitter patter of rain on the roof, the sound of water lapping at the shore, the crackle and snaps of wood burning on a campfire.
Even the smell of fresh cut grass, can make my soul sing!!
    I’m crazy right?!! LOL!!
Oh Hey and Em I spent most of the whole summer making a new crafting space for myself in our basement, so I have been in the “organization make it fit and work” zone for two months so if you really want some help I’d love to come help you. Plus I also love to see other peoples stashes!!! Hey just a thought if we traded some of our stash would that count as purging? I certainly think so!!!LOL!! ( I know my husband is always trying to get me to purge as well!) Good luck and I can’t wait to see some of the pictures of your chaos! Realizing other people have chaos at times makes me feel better about mine!!

Love the pages and Em loved the texture on yours too. I was thinking it was Monday today since yesterday was Labor Day so guess I missed this week.
I’m inspired by many things. Lots of blogs, Pinterest, fabrics, SB papers, just everyday things too. That list could go on and on.
I need to redo my craft room also and I could certainly do some purgeing too and probably wouldn’t miss it although sometimes when I get rid of something sometime down the road I wish I had it back. Perhaps that’s why I don’t purge as often as I should.

That’s the exact same reason I have trouble purgeing my stash!! Shortly after I let something go I seem to have the most brilliant Idea for it and wish I had it back!!!! Glad I’m not the only one how does this!!!!

Forgot to mention. Think you had a loaded post today. LOL Love your owl to put brushes in, funny I just saw one in the store similar but it was cream color and shorter. I thought it was pretty but I like yours better.

Cool blocks and the owl rocks. 8)

  5. Love the owl! What is it with husbands and purging? Not going to happen here either – although a desk with narrow drawers would be oh so helpful in the organization of “things”, especially stamps.

Great pages. I was way too busy to even enter the “lower studio” (aka basement) last week but hope to get a page in for next week.

I love antiquey things…and surrounding myself in my “studio” with interesting old stuff really inspires me. I especially love anything old with drawers, so I surround myself with those to organize my huge collection of supplies (notice I call it a collection…that is sorta what it is cuz I collect way more than I could ever use!!! LOL) Having all these things filling my space instantly makes me want to create something.

love the blocks and yes I can envision a collection of them. my messy desk inspires me since I’m forced to constantly move stuff around and that starts something ticking…

I ceaned up about a month ago. Not purged…cleaned. You wouldn’t know it to look at it now. I like to leave art journals on my desk and on my shelves, also, pictures I wanna do stuff with. I love texture! I love the owl for paintbrushes! You just gave me an idea for more stuff. I actually started utilizing the stuff I had for storage. Still there’s never enough space! I come here for inspiration all the time….thanks Emily for doing what you do so well!

I really like the vintage birds block. Great look.
