For those of you with a Silhouette you can find a free cut file for this card HERE. It will be available to download for one week.

How To:

To make the base of the card by hand you need 1 piece of white card measuring 7.5″ x 5.5″.
Place on the scoring board with the 7.5″ along the top.
Score at 1.5″ and 2.5″ down to the 1″ mark
Score at 2″ and 3″ from the the 1″ mark down to 2″

Move in 1/2″ each with each line, each time scoring down 1″, as shown below (see diagram)

Using a ruler to guide, cut 1.5″ across the bottom of each step from the bottom left, to the top right of the step underneath it.

Once you have all the scoring and cutting done, mountain fold the score lines closest to the left edge, and valley fold the scorelines on the right.

Push the steps in from the left and fold until they are flat. Crease with a bone folder and pull the steps back into position.

To make the layers of the card –

I made another 2 card bases – 1 from white card and 1 from patterned paper.  Using a scissors to cut around the steps and my paper trimmer to cut the outer edges, I cut the panels down until they were about 1/8″ smaller than the previous layer and I had a white border around the edges.
For the step squares –
5 pieces of white card measuring 7/8″ square
5 pieces of patterned paper measuring 3/4″ square

Adhere all the patterned paper pieces onto the white card pieces.

Glue down the side panels onto the card base

Adhere the squares down on to the steps. If you don’t have letters and numbers you can leave them blank or add flat embellishments.

Cut out any die shapes you want to add. For this card I used pierced ovals and stitched stars.
