I’ve been meaning to colour our special Emily tribute stamp in coloured pencil for ages. While I coloured her, I had a good rant to Emily about all the crazy life stuff that’s happened lately.

In case you weren’t aware, the stamp I’ve used for today is extra special. It is a tribute to Stamping Bella’s founder, my wonderful friend Emily Block. We lost Emily in November 2022, and she is so very missed. This stamp was released in June 2023 as part of a birthday tribute to Emily, and all profits from sales of this stamp are being donated to the Emily Block Memorial Fund, supporting children’s art therapy programs at the JGH in Montreal.

Just a quick note before I share the card and video. At the moment life is a bit stressful and unsettled as my partner’s father has been in and out of hospital and is now awaiting surgery. So we’re making ourselves available to help family and visit, as well as looking after our adolescent dog. I’m currently working with a temporary colouring/filming set up, so please bear with me if my videos are not quite up to usual standards for the time being. I’m trying my best to get everything set up well, but obviously there are some teething problems as you might notice in today’s video. I’m trying to work out the best place to take photos too. It’s all a bit annoying!

At certain times every year I find myself in an Alice in Wonderland kind of mood. This is one of those times. Lily of the Valley

This is such a beautiful image, and useful for so many occasions. The Victorians saw lily of the valley as symbolic of a return to happiness, and it is often used to symbolise luck, prosperity, and motherhood. Whenever I see lily of the valley I think of Emily, and probably always will. It’s a fairly unassuming flower, and not one I had ever paid much attention to before I knew Emily, but I’ve grown really fond of it, especially now.
