my week at a GLANCE

*warning sistahs*.. if you are my Instagram Friends, you have seen these photos.. but  if you aren’t, first, shame on you.. LOL.. second, I decided to share a little bit MORE of da bella on my blog.. little snippets of my life.. photos I took etc.. May be BORING.. but I found it fun at the time.. these shots may include food, stamps, work, family.. pets.. who knows what happens in a week.. ya nevah know..

and if you would like to share some of your shots with US.. go ahead and post them in the comments.. let’s learn a little more about eachothah.. that’s what our SISTAHOOD is all about, no?  I have made SO many important, valuable, amazing friends through my business and I hope I can connect many more people to each other.. a network so to speak..   so if this bores you, I’m sorry :(.. if you think it’s entertaining? WOOHOO! that’s the point..LOL.. I may do this on Thursdays from now on.. we shall see..

as I mentioned, the most MONUMENTAL decision and commitment I made this week was to join Weight Watchers. I am so grateful for the feedback, links to websites, recipes, snack ideas I have received.. keep em coming!  take pictures and put in the comments.. refer us to websites.. let’s GOOO

So Part of starting a diet or anything new are the "tools".. I just HAD to get this salad bowl from Weight Watchers.. who could resist? (keep in mind I GO NOWHERE where I have to pack a lunch..LOL) but ya nevaH know...

my MESS. Yes this is where I create... i have a huge room.. a big table and i end up working on a 3*3 workspace..LOL

If you saw on Instagram I made reference to this bar being SQUIRREL size on Tuesday.

This bar today was a little bigger.. "chipmunk" size.. but I'm still looking for the elephant size LOL

ordered and received some graffiti stuff for my art journaling and painting..the big tubes in the front are STINKY!!!

Everywhere I go.. I have a little follower.. and I mean EVERYWHERE.. and when I am sitting down working.. this is the face I see staring at me all the time..LOL.. isn't he such a POOKSHIMOOKSHIKOOKOOLOOLOOLOOCUTIEPATOOTIE?

 

I weighed this bean thread vermicelli.. there are still 4 bundles under this.. ALL FOR 6 POINTS? I almost had a heart attack with happiness..LOL.. it's the little things..

a bathtub full of popcorn..LOL.. "meh", doesn't do it for me.

worked on a BIG archivers shipping Monday.. stay tooned !

Ruby made me Rice Wrappers tonight with veggies and shrimps.. 1 point each if that.. YUM!!

and SSUPPPERRR HELEN has reorganized the new digs and populated our racking!! LOOKS PHENOM!! getting there sistahs.. getting there

what I’ve been up to…

a little bit of DIS and a little bit of DAT…. As I had mentioned earlier.. I have been wanting to sneak in some time for lil’ (big) ole’ (not that old) me… so I have been snatching any moment I could get over the last week or two and have been spending quality time with my basement (craft studio)…

I have been painting, and transferring images, and collaging..  Like I was having an artistic TANTRUM! LOL.. my kids called me and didn’t get answers.. I was on a roll.. and no one could stop me….. LOL

So having said that, my stampies have been neglected and I miss them terribly… so they will be my VICTIMS today…bwahahahaha

So be kind to da tantrummy bella k?

I’m now gonna share a little piece of me :)..

another little journal page playing with old chipboard, washi tape and some watercolors.. LOVED the smoodginess and watercoloriness of her cheeks 🙂

A painting not done yet.. still have lots to do but needed a bit of a break

I LOVE this one.. This painting is inspired by one of my faves.. SARAH AHEARN BELLEMARE.. she is wonderful..and hosting an amazing class right now. LOVE HER. and I LOVED this quote too 🙂

Ok so that’s about it.. a few more works in progress and will show you them when they are somewhat ready to be seen..LOL

so much inspiration.. so little time

Sistahs,

don’t you feel sometimes that you would just like a 3 day LOCKDOWN?  where you are in your craft room like a mad woman creating non stop.. no knocks on the doors.. no making dinner.. no “MUMMMMMMMMYYY”…s?  LOL.. well I am having one of those moments right now..

I have discovered Patty Van Dorin’s BLOG.. and am in LOVE.. I found a project that she has been doing over the years and it just sang my name..  Don’t you love how powerful our craft network is.. how pinterest works.. how blogs work?  I love it and I don’t.  I love it because I can keep myself constantly inspired.. and I don’t love it because I can keep myself constantly inspired. LOL.

 

So when I discovered her SCRAPODEX PROJECT, I instantly emailed her and asked for her blessing to re post her images and her project and maybe “play” around with my sistahs and she said yes!

Here is a picture of her scrapodex.. *WARNING… YOU MAY NOT SLEEP TONIGHT, AND YOU MAY JUST LOCK YOURSELF IN YOUR CRAFT ROOM*.. don’t say I didn’t warn you….

K does all of this make sense to you?  NOW do you see why I am inspired??? hmmmm???

So I went to staples, bought myself a ROLODEX and got to work.  Now there are so many uses for this little treasure… First of all the surface is so small that whatever you put on it will look cute :).. if you are working on a card or layout or collage, instead of having your table covered in scraps, just stick the little pieces on these cards!!  If the cards are too Flimsy you can make your own cards out of watercolor paper, scrap paper.. whatever.. the sky is the limit!  You can use your scrapodex just as daily inspiration, papers, paint, color combos and whenever you are in a rut, you just flip through this magical little place…

The scrapodex can also be “functional” (some people need to justify this baby.. I understand.. I do it too ).. so you can use it as a “catalog” of your stamps.. stamp them out.. write their name out.. pick a piece of paper you would ultimately like to use in a layout or card and staple a piece.. decorate it.. color it in and write down what colours you used.. this can be your reference guide!  You can slap on paint on it to catalog the colors you have.. so if you would like to look at what a color looks like in the future.. just take a peek at your scrapodex!  If you are already smearing a swatch of paint, why not finish it off with a piece of washi tape and book text?  Have a little collage while you are at it.. you can do the same thing with your ink colors, paper colors, markers, pencils etc.   What about if you are a quilter?  glue your fabric scraps, ribbon, even thread in there.. YUM!  It’s kind of like a journal but on a smaller scale.

Patty has a post on her blog where she explains how she does it.. it’s very simple.. and so much fun.. and once it’s full!  well.. need I say more?

Jayden and I started working on our “CARD THINGIES”..LOL that’s what she calls the inserts.. and we had a blast..  here are mine..

And here are Jayden’s.. I think she did a GREAT job on her “card thingies” don’t you?  and she was so focused with brads and buttons and papers.. her tongue was actually sticking out and I think I spotted some drool.. 😉

So I was thinking that maybe we can incorporate a scrapodex card with art journaling TOOSDAYS… or maybe it can merit it’s own day?  Whaddya think?

a little bit of inspiration

Nothing inspires me more than COLOUR…. when I look at colours and I feel happy, I know that I have been inspired.. I have so many things that surround me at all times that are so colour rich.. and that is what keeps me making art…. why do you think I love scrapbooking paper so much?  For such an inexpensive price, I have a 12*12 sheet of pure and utter inspiration… inspiration that I am pretty confident is “artistically” correct where colours are put together for a reason.. and for that reason, I always have little swatches of my scrapbook papers that I love stuck down in an inspiration journal… whenever I am in a “rut”.. I flip through that book and see yummy color combos that I would have never thought of!  So the next time you are in a scrapbook store and pick up a paper that “speaks” to you.. don’t put it back down and say “i don’t need another piece of paper”! LOL.. I know we all do that.  For the $1.00 or so that it costs, it is sooo worth the feeling you get when you look at it.. Ok?  ya hear me out there? LOL

Here is a painting that i started that is not yet finished.. or it may be cuz I can’t touch it..LOL… these colours can hang around me ALL DAY LONG.. I wouldn’t mind 🙂

3 Sneaky Peekies and AJ monday coming SOON to a theatre near you! LOL

I am back from Niagara and had a PHENOM time with GREAT friends.. can I go back yet? 🙁

Today I wanted to introduce you to one of our new artists named RHEEA.  She is from Singapore and she is a delight.  When I saw her artwork, I was mesmerized.  The “sketchiness” of it.. the “rawness” of it.. I dunno.. I can’t explain it but it evoked so many emotions for me.. so I thought to myself.. I can’t be the only one feeling this.. I gots TA share it with da sistahs!  These images are paired with incredible quotes.  They don’t necessarily need to be colored in as I think they make their point in crisp black and white.. or you can play with background techniques and stamp the image over it as well as many other techniques which would be phenom with this style.  Another reason I love these images is because not only are they amazing for cards but they are great for journaling too.. sometimes you don’t want to write in your journal.. you want to find the perfect image to dispell how you are feeling.. and I really think these images do the job.. so vintage.. so retro.. so current…  I could be CUH-RAZY because I have never seen this before in our industry but sometimes, you gotta work with your gut and instinct (*ahem* which I really do all the time)..  you will meet her main characters NINA and NONO (little girl and her Dachsund).. they are in most of the images and they just happily celebrate life together…

Meet RHEEA all the way from SINGAPORE!  Is she not deelish?  If she was in front of me I would SQUISH and hug her right now… (I may break her in half.. but that’s another story.. hmph)
