Scenic Saturday with Amybella: Delivery from the Stork Scene Card

Hello friends!

Amy here on the Blogabella with a brand new Scenic Saturday card to share. I found myself drawn to another one of the super cute baby themed stamps that are part of the latest Spring release, this time it was the Delivery from the Stork stamp that got inked up.

Stamps Used:

Rather than create a card that leaned into the soft pinks and blues of most baby cards I couldn’t wait to take advantage of the story telling potential of this adorable image. So I colored a roof beneath the stork’s feet to make it appear as if he’s arrived at his destination.

I then added the abstract skyline of an urban city stretching off into the distance, broken up here and there by a few tall tree tops. I started with the buildings that are farthest away, sketching them in using the lightest greys and blue violets, then built up each layer with slightly darker colors until we get to the scene in the foreground. This light to dark method is called aerial perspective and it is a simple way to achieve a sense of distance in a landscape.

Like a scene out of a cartoon, you can just imagine the couple inside the house excited to receive their little bundle of love. The sentiment is again another one from the new Baby Sentiment set and the green of the tree behind helps to pull focus to the message amidst the busyness of the rest of the scene.

Stay crafty my friends!

Bellarific Friday: Inspired By

It’s time for more incredible Bellarific inspiration – must be Friday again! This week the Babes have been inspired by each other to create some absolutely gorgeous cards. Let’s take a look!

The Cards!

It’s so fun to see which cards and team members each of the Babes have been inspired by on these weeks. It’s also always fun to see the stamps everyone chooses each week. This time it seems our Whimsabella DaisyDream has been popular – which is no surprise, as she has been very popular in general, popping up in lots of orders!

And here she is, looking so sweet in pastel colours on Jenny’s card!

Thursday with SandieBella: Bundle Girl Easter Window Gift Box

Stamp Bundle Girl with a Carrot onto blending card and colour with Copic markers before fussy cutting around the outline.

For the box, cut one piece of card measuring 7″ x 9.75″. Score on the long side at 1″, 4.5″, 8″ and 9″ and on the short side at 1″ and 6″

With the 0.75″ section at the bottom, cut on each of the score lines from the edge to the intersecting score line. Cut a wedge from all of the bottom tabs to create the same as below.

Using a shape die, cut a window from the centre.

Cut a piece of paper measuring 3.5″ x 5″ and cut the same shape from the centre. Trim down as necessary to fit over the window on the box base.

Cut a piece of acetate meausring just under 3.5″ x 5″ and adhere inside box base to cover the window.

Decorate the outside of the box using designer paper.

Decorate the inside base with a piece of patterned paper before applying glue to the outside of the 1″ tabs and adhering them to the inside of the box base.

Cover the tabs with paper.

Fold up the box and if the front flap stops the lid from closing properly, trim it down to around 0.5″

Create a mat layer using scalloped oval and oval dies, then adhere it to the bottom left of the box lid.

Add a sentiment to the front and then fill the box with candy, a small gift, or tea light candles.
