It’s Scenic Saturday with Amybella!

Www.stampingbella.com: rubber stamp used : uptown girl librarian. Card by Amy young

Hello Bellas !

Amy here with the last Scenic Saturday card of October, so of course I had to go out with something spooky. Even though I have a lot of Halloween specific images from Stamping Bella, it’s always fun to take a random image and transform it into something spooky for the holiday. In this instance, it was Uptown Girl Librarian who was just itchin’ for a magical Halloween make-over. I don’t know why, but there was just something about this Librarian that had me envisioning her as a studious witch reading a spell book from the moment I got her. To begin her transformation, I simply colored her outfit in the traditional orange and black Halloween color combo and gave her dark purple hair. The next step was to add some actual Halloween images in the scene around our spooky Librarian, such as the Squidgy Bat and a couple of funky jack o’lanterns that I selectively inked up from both the Foxy in the Pumpkinand Squishy Owl stamps.

With the jack o’lanterns now in place behind her, it felt right to go with an outdoor background. So, I proceeded to color in some dirt and dry grass and brought that ground pretty far up this mini slimline card. The higher up you bring the ground the further back in the distance it is going to make it look like that ground extends. At the horizon line I used a mix of grey markers to sketch in a simple stone wall. I like how it adds some interest and gives us a nice break between the ground and the sky. After masking the bat, Librarian and the wall, I stamped in the sentiment from the Frightful and Delightful set then used my Copic airbrush system to add color to the night sky as well as an eerie green glow emitting from her open spell book. And I really do think it was that last minute addition of the magical glow that totally clinched her witchy make-over. 🙂

Ok, here’s wishing all those who will be celebrating, a very fun Halloween this year filled with more treats than tricks!
