It’s scenic Saturday with Amybella!

Hello Bellas!

Amy here and it is time for another Stamping Bella Scenic Saturday post. I don’t know about you but I’m currently going full tilt on creating Christmas cards. To help me really get into the spirit of the season I tend to turn on my Christmas music playlist and let my favorite songs inspire me as I work. When I stamped up the adorable Bundle Girl with a Christmas Tree and a Birdie I knew I loved the image but wasn’t quite sure what direction to take it in. To be perfectly honest, this card is actually my second attempt. My first crack at it was more of a bright and colorful day scene but about half way through coloring I just wasn’t feeling it. Then the song Silent Night started to play and I immediately envisioned this cutie sitting in a deep forest grove with the stars in the sky twinkling above and the star on the tree giving off a soft glow. I immediately knew that to be happy I had to start over from scratch and go in a completely different direction. Once I changed course the scene came together super quick, the night scene allowed me to stick with a monochromatic color scheme where I relied on the contrast between lighter and darker blues to add depth to the pine forest around her. By starting with my lightest blue, B91, and gradually layering in darker trees over top until finally ending with the darkest branches, B99 and C10, on either side of the card, it creates that feel of us, the viewer, peeking through the trees into that quiet and serene moment. The simple sentiment from theHoliday Sentiment set only helped to capture the peaceful feel that was inspired by the song. I’m so glad I decided to change course because to me this feels like the home this little Bundle Girl was waiting for. 🙂

Now before I go, don’t forget to check out the early Black Friday Sale currently happening in the Stamping Bella store. Everything is automatically 25% OFF so no need to enter a code at checkout, making this the perfect time to get a few stamps crossed off your wish list!

  1. I would have to say that you captured the scene perfectly. It’s so soft and sweet and serene. I love it. Thank you for your beautiful artwork.

  2. This is lovely! I’m impressed with the depth of field you have achieved by changing up the intensity of the blues. WOW!
