Cut four pieces of pale turquoise card for the base and pop up panel.
1) 4 1/8″ x 5.5″
2) 4 1/8″ x 6″
3) 4 1/8″ x 5.75″
4) 6.5″ x 2 5/8″
Score the 4 1/8″ x 5.5″ piece on the 5.5″ side at 0.5″ 1.75″, 3.75″ and 5″
Fold and crease the scorelines.
Apply double sided tape on each 0.5″ ends.
Take the 4 1/8″ x 5.75″ piece of turquoise card. Cut a white card layer measuring 4″ x 5 5/8″ and a patterned paper layer measuring 3 7/8″ x 5.5″. Adhere all 3 layers together.
Take the 4 1/8″ x 5.5″ piece again and remove the lining paper from the tape on one end.
Adhere to the bottom of the 5.75″ panel, lining it up at the bottom and the edges
Remove the liner from the tape on the other end and fold the end in at the 1.75″ scoreline as shown.
Fold the 5.75″ panel over on top of the tape and press down well to secure it.
When the card is turned over it should look like this.
To make a decorative panel for inside the ‘box’ cut a piece of white card measuring 4″ x 1 7/8″ and a piece of paper measuring 3 7/8″ 1.75″. Adhere them together and, using wet glue so that you have time to move it around, slide it into the box and adhere to the back wall.
Decorative panels for the ‘box’:
White card measuring:
1) 4″ x 1 7/8″
2) 4″ x 1 1/8″ (x2)
Patterned paper measuring:
1) 3 7/8″ 1.75″
2) 3 7/8″ x 1″ (x2)
Adhere the paper to the white card and adhere the panels on the top, bottom and front of the box.
Set aside for now.
Take the 6.5″ x 2 5/8″ piece of turquoise card and score at 0.5″ and 1.75″
To make the layers, cut one piece of white card measuring 2.5″ x 4 5/8″ and another piece measuring 4″ x 1 1/8″. Cut a piece of patterned paper measuring 2 3/8″ x 4.5″ and another piece measuring 3 7/8″ x 1″. Adhere the paper to the white card and then adhere the panels down onto the 6.5″ x 2 5/8″ piece of turquoise card, leaving the 0.5″ section bare.
Apply double sided tape to the outside 0.5″ section at the top. Flip the panel over to the back and apply another strip of tape to the bottom inside.
Retrieve the card base and fold if flat as shown.
Remove the liner from the tape at the bottom of the front panel, line it up with the bottom edge and centre it (0.75″ from each end) press down firmly. Remove the liner from the tape at the top of the panel, fold it under and press down firmly.
Push up the card at the bottom and it will pop into place.
I’ve seen a lot of people say that they have trouble getting the card to stand, especially after a lot of handling, so an alternative is to add a back panel to take the weight. Take the 4/18″ x 6″ piece of turquoise card and score it at 0.5″. Fold and crease the scoreline.
Apply double sided tape to the 0.5″ section.
Take the pop up card front and adhere the top of it to the 0.5″ section as shown.
Turn over and burnish well.
Stamp the Yeti onto white card using black ink.
Colour using your desired medium.
Cut out using the coordinating die, or fussy cut with a precision scissors.
Cut a turquoise circle measuring approx 3.5″, a white circle measuring approx 3.25″ and a paper circle measuring approx 3″. If you don’t have middle size circle, cut the white one from the same size dies as the largest, and trim inside the stitching.
Rough up the edges of the white circle using the blades of a scissors or a paper distresser.
Adhere all the circles together and then adhere the Yeti to the front using 3D foam. Adhere the circles to the card front also using foam tape for extra dimension.
Stamp the sentiment and cut out using a pennant die. Adhere to the front of the card, below the image.
Add some sparkly enamel dots to embellish.
