Marker Geek Monday: One Stamp, Three Mediums feat. The Chick Who Was a Lamb

It’s the start of a new week, and time for another Marker Geek Monday with me, Elaineabella! This week I decided to have a little fun with one of last year’s Spring/Easter releases, and colour it using three different mediums!

I’m just about getting back into crafting, following my house move and getting my new craft room all set up. So I thought it was about time I broke out some of my much neglected supplies and had a good play! I’m here today to share the results with you, including the colours used for each medium.

All three cards feature the same stamp set: The Chick Who Was a Lamb. Like all of the Cool Chicks stamps, this is a fun, humour-filled image. The sentiment I used on each card comes in the set – I simply masked off the top part of it before stamping on my cards!

If you would like to watch me colouring the version of this image found on the product packaging/website, you can do so in the video below or in HD over on YouTube.

One Stamp, Three Mediums!

First up, I created another Copic coloured version:

Copic Colours Used Chicks: Y11,Y08,E11,Y38,YR18 Bunny Ears: C00,C1,C3,R30,R32 Lamb Costume: C00,C1,C3,C8 Branch: E35,E57,YG23,YG17 Sky: B000,B01

Then I played with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens:

Zig Clean Color Pens Used Chicks: 050,051,061,070,060 Bunny Ears: 302,091,026,028 Lamb Costume: 302,091 Branch: 072,065,045,041 Sky: 302,036

Finally I did a little water-colouring using Distress Inks! I did this by smooshing the ink pads on an acrylic block, and picking up the ink using a water brush.

Distress Inks Used Chicks: Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Rusty Hinge Bunny Ears: Hickory Smoke, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry Lamb Costume: Hickory Smoke, Black Soot Branch: Walnut Stain, Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn Sky: Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon

On both the Zig Clean Color and Distress Ink cards I used Bristol Smooth Surface paper. I find the Zigs blend nicely on this using the markers to blend, with no water, and on the Distress Ink card I knew I wouldn’t be using a great deal of water.

My secret favourite (shhh, don’t tell the others) is the Distress Ink version. I’d forgotten how much fun it is to paint using Distress Inks in this way, and if you have them it is a great way to get more use from them!

Hopefully this post will give you a little inspiration to break out your stamps and play, whatever medium you use!
