Marker Geek Monday: Easy Winter Background using Copic Markers (with video)

Hi folks, Elaineabella here wondering where another week has disappeared to! We’re hurtling toward the festive season, so I’ve got a Christmas/Winter themed post for you today featuring one of our fantastic new Christmas stamps: Chickadeer!

Stamping Bella – Chickadeer stamp:

If you haven’t taken a look at the Stamping Bella Holiday 2016 release yet, what are you waiting for? 😉 Little Chickadeer has a host of other festive friends of all shapes and sizes, all ready to make your Christmas crafting magical (and inject a healthy dose of festive humour).

Here’s the card I created for the release:

As you can see, I coloured a simple winter background for little Chickadeer to drag his presents through. Actually, are they his presents he’s hauling, or is he being generous and delivering some? I’m not entirely sure. Either way he looks very pleased with himself!

The background I coloured could not be easier to do. Seriously. Backgrounds do not need to be terribly complicated and involved to make an impact, in fact it’s often better if they’re not over the top. Grab your markers and have a go!

Top Tips:

• Work quickly when laying down the ink, this will help you with blending.
• Layer, layer, layer! Repeat steps 3 & 4 to achieve the desired effect. Layering will cover up any patchiness.
• Don’t try to be “perfect”. The sky isn’t one perfect solid block of colour, you don’t have to try and make your coloured background that way!
• When using the Colourless Blender, return to the same areas to strengthen the effect, leaving time for the ink to settle and dry each time.
