Hey folks! Elaineabella here with another Marker Geek Monday post to kick off what I hope will be a week full of colouring fun.
I didn’t get to share any colouring tips with you last week as Emily hijacked the blog with an amazing round of preview posts for the latest stamp release. The new release is of course now available to order and everything can be found under the WHAT’S NEW section on the website. I know a few items are currently out of stock as this release has been especially popular. Rest assured Emily and the rest of the Stamping Bella team are working hard to get the stock replenished, so don’t worry if you have your eye on some of the new stamps (and who doesn’t?!) – restocks are on the way!
To get all the inspiration the Bellarific Babes created for the new release, check out Emily’s handy Release Day Blog Post.
In case you missed out on the preview posts, or if you just want a handy way to see all of my colouring videos for the new release you can check out my Stamping Bella Holiday 2016 Release Playlist below or release below or in HD over on YouTube!
Now for today’s topic!
Stamping Bella – Set of Pumpkins stamp set – includes sentiments.
Some of my favourite stamps from the new release are the Autumn/Fall themed images. Around this time of year I always get a little obsessed about pumpkins, so as you can imagine, I am in love with a few of the new images in particular. While I’m obsessing about colouring pumpkins I thought I would put together some handy Copic Marker combos for you!
Bonus Coloured Pencil Guide:
You can also pop over to my own blog – Marker Geek – today for some bonus pumpkin colouring fun! Over there I’ve created a video and some colour palettes for colouring pumpkins with coloured pencil! Click through to check it out: Marker Geek Blog – Colouring Pumpkins Using Coloured Pencils (with video).
The stamp I used for today’s colouring fun is from the Stamping Bella – Set of Pumpkins stamp set, available as just the stamps, or as a stamp and Cut it Out die bundle. But the colours shown here would also be wonderful for our new Tiny Townie Patricia loves Pumpkins and Tiny Townie Casey has a Cornucopia (Casey will be the star of another Marker Geek Monday very soon).
Please feel free to save this image or pin it to your Pinterest board. It is intended for your reference. I do ask that you do not repost this image on your own blog or directly send the image to other people, instead please direct them to this blog post to obtain it for themselves.
I put together a closer to real time version of my pumpkin colouring video, showing just the pumpkin stamp used on the combo sheet, so you can get a really good look at how I approached colouring this image.
Watch the video below or in HD over on YouTube.
As you can see from the Copic combo sheet above, you can achieve some nice results by shading your YRs with reds or browns. You could also use Warm Grays to add some nice depth to your colouring. Personally my preference is to use some of the reddish brown Earth tones. When using greys for the shading it does tone down the colours somewhat, so to maintain the richness and intensity I tend to reach for the earth tones or reds instead.
My favourite combos shown above are those that use a yellow for the highlight area and a deep reddish brown for the shadows. This gives a nice amount of contrast and makes the image more visually appealing or makes it “pop”.
If you try out the techniques or colour combos shown in this post with your Stamping Bella stamps, be sure to share! We would love to see the results and hear how you feel about them. Show off your creations in the comments below and even better, share your own favourite tips with us. Let’s talk colour!

Oh thanks for sharing! I love your color combinations! I sometimes struggle with getting the right colors. Your color maps are so helpful! 🙂
Thank you Nancee! I’m really happy to know you find them helpful. 🙂
Great tutorial… Love the pumpkins !
Thanks Denise, glad you enjoyed it!
First time watching one of your videoes Elaine! MESMERIZING!!!!!! I love the shadow mapping in a lighter color and working on ONE section at a time. I think that’s where I lose my light source, trying to do whole image at once with each color! BEAUTIFUL work
Thank you Kelli! Glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂
Really cute
I love how you colored the pumpkins but I don’t have enough Copics to be able to color any of them even if I had the pumpkin stamps. They do look nice and I like how you colored them to make them look lighter or darker. I’ve even seen white pumpkins! Thanks for the video!
I was watching the video and it keep starting and stopping on me. Only a few times but it did. Then a pop up ad came on the screen a few times and I even have a pop up blocker on! Otherwise, I like how you colored the pumpkins. Wish I could do that!
Hi Gail,
It sounds like maybe YouTube were experiencing some issues, or there was an issue with your connection. I have no control over this. Also, what you may have seen is an ad on the video, which is normal. YouTube doesn’t serve pop up ads to my knowledge.
Love the new stamps. So much fun and the color tutorials are awesome!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful coloring with us! I would love to know what type or brand of paper or card stock you use when you color with Copic markers?
Thanks again!
Hi Kim, Elaineabella here. I use Make it Colourful Blending Card, which you can find all the details for on my blog. I’m based in the UK though. If you’re in the US I’d recommend trying X-Press It. I’ve discussed paper choice in one of the Copic Basics posts I did here on the blog: http://stampingbella.com/blog/marker-geek-monday-copic-marker-basics-part-3/ Hope that helps!
