  1. Great video. Nice to see your technique up close. I especially like the part where you combined the Copics with the pencils. I’ll have to try that!

  2. Wonderful Feature Film….my congrat’s to you.
I have Copics, have not tried the Prism pencils becuase I did not understand what to do with the mineral spirits but you make it look so easy. Great tutorial to get us (your fans) involved. Ha that’s the idea isn’t it?

Love your Annie and Arthur stamps.

  3. You make me want to send my family on a vacation, so that I can stay home and just colour for a week. Love, love, love all that you do.

  4. Awesome video tutorial Em! I didn’t know you could also use your Copics with the Prisma’s! I picked up a bottle of your mineral spirits when I visited Stamping Bella last year and now I really want to try it with my Prisma’s! I’ve been a bit hesitant to try it and you make it look easy with your step-by-step tutorial! I can’t wait to see your hair tutorial! And, I really need Annie and Arthur!

  5. Thanks for the great video! I think might need to another colouring 101 class or at least work on the “lines” in my colouring!

    Have a great Family Day!

    Michelle

  6. awesome video Emily …. very well done!! I love all of the videos you guys have been posting. This one really explains how to use the prismacolours/copics with the gamasol …. great reminder for your “not so young fans” how to colour properly.

super cute Annie and Arthur too!!

  7. Can’t wait to check out the video! I do enjoy the pencil crayons. Krista got me hooked on Bruynzeels too.
Enjoy your Family Day! No one except the kids gets that holiday in our house, so the kidlets are out having fun with their grandparents, so I guess that counts as family! The plus is that there was *no rush hour traffic*!!! That is certainly a holiday 🙂

  8. Oh, love it!! Thanks so much. If I were on camera…….the camera would break and if anything made it to someone’s pc….it would crash!! Thanks for the tutorial……now I need to find that bottle of yours….the OMS one……not the liquor one 🙂

    More please…..

    Thank you

  9. All I can say is, “Mwah back atcha!” EXCELLENT tutorial. Have been using my Copics and ignoring my Prismacolors, but not anymore!

  10. i’m loving the prismacolor. i am new to everything and just like you a compulsive buyer. so when i discovered stamping and coloring i bought everything that i need in 1 week. but still waiting for my stampingbella stamps. huhuhu they’re taking too long. 🙁

  11. A well done amazing video – congratulatons!
So well explained – shading, stumps, oms, sanding, paper and even Copics.

  12. Congrats Emily! You sound increasingly confident and relaxed with each video you make. Your producer also does a great job.

  13. That is great Emily. You explained things really well, very easy to understand. The tips you gave me last week have really helped me and I am feeling more confident using this technique. Look forward to part 2.

  14. Love this how to video, especially when you combine the copics with the coloured pencils…very inspiring…hope I can spend part of my Family Day in my scrappin’ room with my copics and coloured pencils !! Thanks soooo much !

  15. Great Tutorial! I am definitely going to try your way! Paula was teaching me also but it’s nice to have your video to watch!!!
    Great video!

  16. OMG, I might have to convert from COPIC to PRISMA or combine b/c that is sooo enticing…very nice face…gotta love arthur & annie …pick me pick me
    Luv u gals

  17. Absolutely fabulous! Where is my Oscar nomination form, you have earned one. I appreciate how well you explained the tools and then the shading. I can’t wait to see more.

  18. WOW! I’ve never seen this done before with the prisma pencils! Great tutorial!! Lucky students you have!! Very informative! Can’t wait to see what else you’ve got up your sleeve!

  19. I love these two stamps – they are adorable! Thank you for showing how to blend with gamsol. No wonder it’s never worked for me – I use way more than you do.

  20. I’ve been using colored pencils for years and never knew about this blending technique. Awsome! I happened upon your website jumping from blog to blog. I love your stamps and will have to purchase a few. I just can’t decide on which ones.

  21. thank you for the most informative session! great tips! My travel kit always has pencil crayons, stumps and gamsol in it since its lightweight and portable. And I don’t have to worry about Copics air pressure if I’m flying. But I don’t carry the gamsol bottle on board well since it is a liquid.

  22. I know I was one of those always asking for coloring tips, so I THANK-YOU. I have learned that I am using way too much gamsol, always redipping when trying to do the shading thing, and I must pick up some of your Bella paper next time I am in the store too, and see how different the images turn out…looking forward to future episodes!

  23. wow, you make it look so easy, this helps lots! I have learned some valuable techniques from this, especially the use of the sun for deciding where the brightness should be.
Thanks for sharing, have a happy day!

  24. Amazing shading – thank you so much! (I found you via Isabelle’s blog)
I have learnt so much here, and look forward to trying your techniques.

  25. I wish I had this about a year ago when I was just learning to color…it’s very easy to follow and beautifully executed. So looking forward to the hair! Great job ladies.

  26. LOL Mentalated…!! 🙂 You crack me up, Em! Fabulous coloring video – more more give us more! LOVE the combo technique of using Copics and Prismas…I will have to try that! Can’t wait to see the hair done! Arthur and Annie – HOW CUTE ARE THEY?!

  27. Very helpful..I follow both Linda and Paula’s blogs and try to duplicate their coloring/shading. This video is very helpful and I am looking forward to the hair video.

  28. hello! best prisma/mineral spirits video I’ve EVAH watched! thank you! I am really wanting to give it a try!!! Thanks so much!!!! (I’m always- ALWAYS very lighthanded- seeing your technique shows me the error of my ways!) 😀

  29. Thank you so much for this vid. I loved it. I always do the sun on a post it, it makes it so much easier for me to remember how to shade. I can’t wait to see more. I have been using my copics so much that my poor prismas are neglected, but they were my first love, time to dig them out again!

  30. O MY STARS!! She is darling!! 🙂
but more importantly, I learned a lot. I have been using OMS and prisma’s for a while…I always re-wet my stump, thank you for correcting me. Also i did NOT know you could use prismas with copics.
If you do the pencil fast enough, does the alcohol in the copic layer you put down, blend on it’s own, or do you still need a stump?

I do not own any copics yet, I find they are pricey and since I do not know how to use them properly I have not wanted to invest in them. Now you have me thinking. If I could only buy 5 copics to start with, what ones would you recommend?

Also, could you do an episode(TUT) on copics without the pencils?

I am so glad I choose today to be your blog day! It must be FATE! HA! (I follow well over 1100 blogs) so I only visit a handful a day.
Thanks so much for introducing those darlings, and the tutorial was top notch!
    Susan

  31. Thank you so much for posting this video. I always colour with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol and I never knew about drawing a Sun to help know where to shade !! Ingenious!! Thanks for sharing and great tutorial!! Luv all your stamps! Authur and Annie are so darn cute!!

    Lisa

  32. Awesone Tutorial! Now I can watch the tutorial and practice my colouring skills. Can’t wait for more tutorials.

    Thanks!

  33. Wonderful. Thank you so much. I am very new to this whole prisma coloring with card making. I took a class at your store and have tried on my own but I know there is still so much to learn. I am so glad that I have access to your site and now the videos and I can work along side with you. This is great and I hope you will be posting more. Thank you so much for being so caring and patient at helping us learn this.

  34. …clearing my throat here…i would happily sit and do videos like yours, IF i had anyone to do all the ‘other’ work, like Ebru does. I have tried, but I have failed MIZ-erably. Guess I am not longer needed in Bellaland and I should just go elswhere, where the ladies don’t know about videos.

  35. I’ve admired CraftyCath’s work and great to see a tutorial on how she does some of her great shading. Thanks, look forward to seeing more.

  36. Thank-you so much much for this great tutorial on the prisma pencil colouring. Can’t wait for the next one. Hugs, Nellie.

  37. Great video I have to remember to use the pencils and liquid I keep forgetting, I got into Copics and love the idea of using the two (or three with spirits) together. thanks for the awesome video. Great tutorial.

  38. Thanks for the great video and the thorough explanation of how to decide where the shading goes. That always stumps me. Annie looks like a perfect image to start on, since she has some clues about where the dark areas would be from the stamp designer.

  39. Super video – it was very helpful, especially the shading. I too love Prisma pencils (and markers) all depending on the effect I want.
    Thank you for sharing :).

    Hugs, Mette
