Stuff I was up to this weekend!

Hiya sistahs!  I hope you had a great weekend!  So this was my first weekend on Jenny Craig and I must say I was VERY good.  I listened, I ate, I was IN CONTROL.  My worst “pecking” time is at night… TERRIBLE.. I dunno if it is habit, hunger or boredom (can’t be)… but I decided to keep my fingers BuSy.  If they are BUSY then I don’t have to think about PECKING..LOL (just call me chickenbella).  I sometimes color at night which I love to do but I wanted to try something new… I have been EYEING embroidery work on blogs.. have been drooling actually and decided I wanted to try so of course I bought every book known to man and learned nothing..LOL.  I spoke to Ryan’s aunt who is an embroiderer (sp?) and she said that as long as you know a couple of stitches, don’t freak out and stress out that you need to know a kabillion.  Just focus on a couple and then increase your repertoire 🙂  .. so that’s what I decided to do.  And what better image to use than MAVIS HAS A DAISY! I love the idea of “HYBRIDING” a craft.. using your tools for different purposes.  So I tried a couple of fabrics the other day to embroider on and I am just gonna test one more and I think I will carry the best one in da STORE.. just to play around with and see what you can do.  I am now OFFICIALLY addicted and how great is it that you can use what you have!  (I stamped it using BLACK INDIA ink which I will have in da shop soon)  So while sipping my BANANA NUT BREAD tea (THE YUMMIEST.. actually the blend looks EDIBLE), I came up with this.  I can’t believe I am showing you this sample because Jayden decided to admire it with AVOCADO on her hands.  HMPH.. so please disregard the stain 🙂 (LOL).. Also I have learned a lot from this first attempt.. this fabric (muslin) is way too thin.. or the next one I will try to line it with batting so that you can’t see the threads through it… Lots of things learned, PLUS A STAIN but hey… that’s me… imperfection at it’s best!  WE MUST EMBRACE IMPERFECTION sistahs!

  1. Love the effect of your embroidery =9 I’m really bad when it comes to needles and threads but your cute project inspired me to try. The question is when (lol).

  2. dude, TIDE PEN!
i lurrrrrve this project, and to save yourself from the Avo, i promise the Tide Pen will work its magic!

Mavis is adorable, and she looks fabby all stitched up! will be back for a visit on wednesday! xo

  3. Cute…I have been doing handwork since I was 13 and love it. You will find yourself collecting all of the colors of floss, other threads, beads, tiny ribbon and so much more….like all art work we get into!
    Have fun, I’ll be watching!

  4. love it Emily!!! you are so creative!! I have been doing cross stitch and embroidery for years, but never thought of using stamps – U R AMAZING!! did you use just regular ink to stamp on the fabric?

first couple of days on a new way of eating is the hardest – you did it … you will make it!! 😉

  5. This was a great project to keep your fingers busy!! Is adorable…think she got the avocado on it to mark it as hers…..lol

  6. I haven’t embroidered in several years, but did do alot of it…hmmmm..may have to revisit this…You did a great job and I love the stain…”touched with love and admiration” by someone very special….lol…

  7. Hi Emily!
I wish you good luck with Jenny Craig. We are all promised good health if we watch our diet but the immediate reward is smaller clothes.
I am already through with my “embroidery period” but I loved every minute of it. This hobby is highly portable and non messy. My daughter still has a pillow case I embroidered for her many years ago: the pattern was a jar of pickles because her brother was calling her “Pickle” at the time. Might as well have fun with our crafts.
