Hello Bellas !
Amy here and now that we’ve had our Halloween fun, it’s time to focus Scenic Saturdays on Christmas crafting. With all of the fantastic Christmas themed stamps released every year at Stamping Bella, it can be hard to make sure they all get inked up for the big celebration. That’s the case of this adorable Teeny Tiny Townie with a Pine Cone. I know I’ve had her in my crafty stash for at least a couple of years now and I was determined not to let her go another holiday season without fulfilling her stampy destiny and get on a card of her own. To be honest, I’m actually kind of glad it took this long because I don’t remember mini slimline cards being much of a “thing” at the time of her release and I think the proportions of the Teeny Tiny Townies lend themselves perfectly to the smaller sized cards. With the oversized objects each one is paired with, the Teeny Tiny Townies really feel like they are pushed front and center on a card which can make their proportions a bit tricky to work into more elaborate backgrounds. So, my personal rule with them is to keep the background simple and either very distant or super close up… no middle ground. For this particular card, I imagine us, the viewer, laying in the snow as we watch this Thumbelina sized elf drag a pine cone through that snow directly in front of us. Behind her was see glimpses of a few pine trees growing far in the distance, which makes you wonder… how long has she been at this? Creating that simple background was as easy as taking one of the sky colors and creating a wavy horizon line at Teeny Tiny Townie with a Pine Cone’s eye line. I used some blue/green markers with shadowy grey tones to make it look like there are some rolling hills of snow before sketching in pine trees both in front of the horizon line and behind it. This provides just enough depth and interest without going too over board. Once the card was put together, I borrowed the sentiment that comes with Uptown Girl Wren and her Wreath and heat embossed it in gold for a pretty finishing touch. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend!
Amy, you just don’t get enough attention! Your cards with your terrific backgrounds deserve a standing ovation. I am just as guilty, but I want you to know I love them all!!!
Amy, this card is so cute… I love the scallop; it compliments the pinecone, and I like the hills and trees in the background leaving the pinecone and girl as main focal. Thank you so much for sharing.
C’est magnifique ! J’aimerais tellement avoir cette dextérité pour coloriser. J’adore. Félicitations,
