Card Samples, Spotlight On

Spotlight On: Downtown Guy Calvin

Hey everyone! Elaineabella here with the weekly Spotlight On feature. As with last week I’m going to completely ignore that lovely enticing new release and show you some inspiration for another oldy but goody. Hopefully I’ll inspire you to dig out the stamp if you already have it or to come to your senses and add it to your collection if not!

Spotlight On Stamping Bella Downtown Guy Calvin. Click through for the inspiration!

Stamping Bella Downtown Guy Calvin:

It’s a well known phenomenon in the world of stamping and card-making: the dread of making cards for men. There are a wealth of images out there perfectly suited to women and girls, and lots for the little guys in our lives, but the older guys? They just seem to stump us. Maybe it’s the fact that we can’t put all those beautiful flowers and other arguably more “girlie” embellishments to use as easily. Whatever the problem, I think it’s a good idea to gather some inspiration where we can, because inevitably we will have to make at least one “male card” sometime during the year (unless you resort to buying them, but where’s the fun in that?!).

Stamping Bella Downtown Guy Calvin is a great addition to your male card-making/stamping arsenal.

He looks so busy, but I bet he’s scrolling through his blog reader, or streaming the latest episode of something on Netflix. 😉 That Rubik’s Cube masquerading as a paperweight? Love it!

Shall we take a look at some samples from the Babes past and present? They’ll show you how you can still play with papers and die cuts, or keep things very clean and simple to create some great cards for guys.

Over To You!

Hopefully I’ve inspired you to add Downtown Guy Calvin to your collection, or if you already have the stamp to get it stamped up for a special occasion!

You are absolutely RIGHT! Making guy cards is hard! I usually fall back to the usual hunting/fishing/trucks/ tools scenario. This is a great stamp for the office guys! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I don’t have this one….yet! What a great stamp! Yes, male cards are hard to make as there are not a lot of options! This one is going to be added to my collection! Thanks for sharing!

Guy cards are a real struggle, no doubt about it. Love Downtown Guy Calvin! Would love to see more stamps like him and more Tiny Townie stamps. The little ones are my absolute favorites!!

What a great guy card! To bad I don’t know a guy to send it to or at least a guy who does this. I’d have to buy the stamp though but I would if I had at least one person who is a guy to send this to. Your right, there isn’t a lot of things for guys in stamps, it always seems to be for the ladies or girls or little boys. Most of my stamps are for girls as I have 3 sisters and a mom. My dad is 92 and now he doesn’t do a heck of a whole lot so it’s hard to know what kind of a card to make him. I used to use a lot of the same stamps for him because of him being a guy and me having not to many guy stamps. This is a great one but not for my dad. I really love all the colors and the coloring. Great card!
Oh yeah, your also right about buying a card. I make greeting cards and my mom usually buys them! She says she looks at the verse first and then the front of the card. She loves those long, rhyme verses in the cards and I don’t have any stamps that match what she usually wants. Hey, I’d charge her less then Hallmark and make a better card!
