sorry i have been M.I.A.

but I have been in my own world lately.  Today is a very sad day for me sistahs.  This is one  thing I don’t like when I am in the ‘public eye’.  I am a very ‘to myself’ person when it comes to dealing with personal issues (even though it may not seem it at times) .. but I think one of the benefits of being in the ‘public eye’ is that it helps me cope with certain things.  We picked up bella over the weekend and she was just scrumptious.  TRULY scrumptious.  My daughter, Jayden, started having reactions to her.. in terms of her health.. although she is deemed to be completely hypoallergenic, I could not risk the health of my little one.. so after falling in love HARD.  and I mean REALLY HARD, Ryan and I made the decision to send her back to her mommy and daddy where she will be happier.  We are truly devastated about this.  My children don’t know yet but I just could not risk anything and the longer I would have kept her, the more traumatized we all would have felt.  Does this even make sense?  I feel like a rotten person.. I feel horrible.  I am very sad today.  I promise in the next coupla days, I will hopefully feel better about all of this (I am not thinking so) but I just had to share since all my sistahs have been emailing me about what the outcome of Bella was.

In comemoration (sp?) of Bella, I would like to devote this stamp to her!

That is heartbreaking. I am so sorry for you all. What a hard choice. If you decide to try again I totally recommend goldendoodles. They have mini’s which look like walking teddy bears. Too cute. I have several friends with major dog allergies and they don’t have any trouble with mine. Delilah is a full size doodle. Loving, sweet, and a super cuddler. Happy thoughts for you and your family.

  2. Julie Bock says:

I am so sorry that your little one had a reaction, but like you said it was better that it was very early rather then being even more attached. I will be buying the new stamp in honor of lil Bella. I myself have been in the same position, but after 8 months….I still miss my Ecko!

    A big MWAHHHHHHH

Oh Em….I’m SO sorry that your heart is breaking – I can only imagine how difficult this is. Once you have fallen in love, it doesn’t matter if a day, a week, a month, a year….it is still hard to let go.

Most importantly, YOU are not a rotten person! You made the decision to return little Bella for the welfare of your children….that my dear is what a GOOD MOMMY would do, and should do!

I hope for you that the break in your heart is filled with the warmth of your loving family – and that includes your SISTAHS!

So sorry to hear of your troubles Em!! You are doing the right thing for bella and your daughter . . . although it’s hard! Big hugs to you all today!!!

  12. QC says:

Em, I’m sorry to hear it…and I know how heartbreaking it must be for you…..it’s so easy to fall for the babies when they’re so danged CUTE!!!

(Consider a “West Highland White Terrier”….. they are “made of hair not fur” so there shouldn’t be an allergy….we have a friend who is HIGHLY allergic to cats and dogs and can totally be around our Westie without a reaction…….)

BIG BELLA HUGS TO YOU and your family!

  13. Sabena says:

Oh Em, I am so sorry for your troubles… it must be very hard right now. But you did what you HAD to do for your family. sending big HUGS to you and your family!

  14. Rosybella says:

    I’m so sorry about bella.
I’m still dying to have a puppy
i want a Yorkie but i can’t have it until we own a house.
Hopefully you’ll feel better knowing you made the right choice.

  15. cassandra says:

That’s too sad about Bella! I think it’s wonderful that you put aside your own desire for the sweet puppy out of concern for your kids health. That’s what being a great mom is all about!!! I know it’s hard…..I can’t imagine having to get rid of my 3 dogs (although I talk about it all the time when I’m sweeping up their hair). Warmly, Cass

  16. Christi says:

Em, I am so sorry to hear this. I had to do the same thing a few years ago and I was devistated. I still miss my puppy. HUGS to you and your family.

  17. Suzy Pearson says:

I am so sorry Em. I know how much you wanted her and how much company she would have been for you at work. You didn’t really have much choice. The little baby will find a loving home where there are no allergy issues. She won’t remember a thing but her new family. I am sad for you and with you. Dogs are a wonderful thing but your family comes first. I hope your kids won’t be too sad when they find out. Just tell them that Bella missed her mommy so much that she needed to go home to be with her. They might understand that.

  18. chellabella says:

    so sorry to hear this!

i have always been a pet lover and no matter how short the time you had her i am sure there was a bond forming.

i will be thinking of you… hugs, chella

  19. Carmen says:

Oooooh Emily! I can imagine how hard this must be on you right now. I’m so sorry! This won’t make you feel any better but you made a very brave dissicion. My kids are alergic too and we will never be able to have a (hairy) pet. Take care sistah, I’ll be thinking of you! MWAH MWAH MWAH!!!

  20. Brenda says:

    Em –
I’m so sad for you! When I was little, I was allergic to EVERYTHING and always wanted a puppy. I’m still terribly allergic to cats, horses, and many dogs. We did get a maltese for our kids and so long as I keep him with a short cut, and brushed I do okay. You did what is best for your daughter and you cant feel like a horrible person for doing the right thing. I hope your broken heart heals quickly!!!! Until then… BIG {HUGS}.

  21. Jen says:

    What a hard decision for you to make but I would have done the same for my little ones too. Sending lots of hugs your way!!! {{{Em}}}

  22. Shannan says:

  23. veronica says:

    Oh sweetie,
I wish I lived closer I would have taken Bella for you and you could visit her. I know how hard it is to lose a family friend like this. My DH (third) was also allergic to my devoted cat of 10 years and it killed me to have to give him away to a friend. I still miss him today….. so I know it is hard. But know that we care.
    Love to my sistah

I’m sorry to hear about this. 🙁 My heart goes out. I also want to say that I love this stamp! I have a friend who has a dog walking/pet sitting business which I helped make the site for. It made me think of her and her love for animals. You truly love them as well to do what was best not only for you, but for Bella. Hugs!

So sorry Em. The stamp is adorable, a beautiful way to celebrate the bond you developed with Bella. I love the outfits on the dogs. Even though you’ll never forget Bella, take comfort in knowing you did the right thing (which is usually the hard thing). MWAH MWAH

  34. MichelleSG says:

  36. MayritaBonita says:

Oh Em, I’m so sorry to hear that; but if you ask me, you’re not a horrible person, to me it’s a no-brainer… If little Jayden was having allergic reactions to her, I don’t think it would be fair to you or to your family to have to submit Jay to treatment, when you can send adorable little Bella back home… Any of us sistahs would have done exactly the same, so you shouldn’t feel bad, your a fantabulous mom!!! And once your little ones are older, they can figure out that it was the right thing to do… I totally agree that if you’ve kept her longer, the more difficult this decision would have been, although the outcome wouldn’t have changed a bit… When I started reading your entry, I thought that she may have been run over, but as long as your little girl’s health is concerned, the choice was very VERY clear… I tend to see the possitive side of everything, and sometimes I’ve been told that I forget to account people’s feelings, I apologize if I’m leaving yours and your family’s out on this, but I truly believe that you made the right choice… Any sistahs up to adopt a beautiful little puppy named Bella?? 😉
    MWAH!!

  37. So sorry this is a sad ending Em 🙁 I am thankful to no allergies that we know of, we have cats, gineau pigs and rabbit. But who knows how the kids would be with a dog.

The new stamp is amazing! I love it. Just sorry its released at such a sad time.

    Hugs

  38. Oh, Em, I’m so sorry. I know how heartbreaking this can be from personal experience. You did the right thing, though, believe me. Your children are just too precious to take any risks at all. I hope you all heal very soon from this heartbreak.

  39. Katie Skiff says:

I am so sorry Em! We’ve had to give our dog away this last month as well. To hard for the boys.

I lovey the new Bella tho!! Hope to see you around more!

  40. Shannon Roberts says:

Just remember that your sistahs are always here for U!!
And just how important your children are!! MWAH!

  43. Sara says:

    Em,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I wish there was something I could do. HUGS & KISSES!!

  44. Joan Hajek says:

    Em,
I so sorry to hear this. I cannot imagine having to make that choice, but you did the right thing. We actually adopted our Maltese from a shelter where the Grandparents had to give her us as the grandkids were coming to live with them, and one of the kids is allergic. And Maltese are hypoallergenic as well, they didn’t risk it. So don’t feel bad…….maybe she will outgrow it one day and you can try again. So sad….. 🙁

  45. Katy Chase says:

    Dear Em,
I’m soooo sorry! What a sad day for you! You are doing the best thing for your little girl and that is the most important thing of all!

  46. mcbetty says:

    Allergies suck.
You did the right thing, Em.
Bella Pup won’t remember this home of two nights, and she’ll find a new one as cute as she is.
Your wee girl will barely remember Bella.
You can remind your kidlets of times you have stayed in a motel, and that your home was a nice motel for her.
Get a bunch of doggie dvds (NOT Ole Yeller) and you can still have a house full of pups. 101 Dalmations, Shaggy Dog, etc.

Thank goodness you aren’t allergic to rubbah!

I hope you are doing better.

  51. Keri says:

    Oh, Em, I am so sorry!! This must have been a terribly hard decision to make, but I do believe you made the right one!! As a person who is horribly allergic to cats, I totally understand what your daughter may have gone through, and it is a miserable feeling!! But my heart aches for you and the loss of lil Bella! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
