Cowboy Squidgy (coordinating CUT IT OUT Dies available)
White Card
Patterned Paper (Echo Park – Petticoats & Pinstripes)
Corner rounder
Crop-a-dile

How To:

Make a card base measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″ and set aside. Cut a piece of white card measuring 4″ x 5.25″. Cut some patterned paper for the front, measuring 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. You can also use contrasting paper as shown.

On the back of the front panel, make a pencil mark 3/4″ in from both sides and 3/4″ up from the bottom and down from the top. Use a ruler to make 2 vertical lines. Cut along each line from 3/4″ down to 4.5″ (this leaves 3/4″ at the top and bottom of the cut lines and 3/4″ on each each side of the card front)

Using a craft knife, or paper trimmer, cut across the bottom, in between the cut lines.

Place the card front onto a scoring board, with the bottom of the card on the left. Score, in between the cut lines at 1.25″, 2 7/8″ and, across the top of the cut lines, at 4.5″.

Fold the score lines and crease well with a bone folder.

Using a circle punch, cut a semi circle top centre of the card front.

Next, cut a tag measuring 3″ x 4.52. Round the corners at the top, if desired. Cut a piece of plain paper (I used copier paper) measuring 1/2″ x 7″, to make a stabiliser, and fold it loosely around the tag. Secure the ends and remove the tag.

Apply a strip of adhesive across the top as shown and adhere the stabiliser to it. If the stabiliser is visible from the front, use the circle punch, or a scissors to cut it to shape.

Punch a hole at the top centre of the tag, add an eyelet and thread some twine through to make a pull cord for the tag.

Slide the tag through the stabiliser and adhere of the bottom of the tag to the bottom of the flap, lining up the end edges.

Turn the card front facing up and pull the tag to see the flap slide up.

Taking the card base you made earlier, place the card front on it, without gluing it down, and position the sentiment where you want to stamp it. Remove the card front and add the sentiment.
I added a strip of contrasting paper across underneath the sentiment on the card base. (forgot to take a photo!) However, the tag can stick a little on it when closing the front panel, so it’s best to just keep a flat surface.

Apply tape or wet glue to the sides and bottom of the card front and adhere down onto the card base.

Stamp the image and colour using your preferred medium.

Cut the image out using a circle die, or any other shape. Cut a second circle the same size and glue the image to it. This makes the image a little sturdier.

To adhere the image to the front of the card, you need to ensure you line it up with the bottom score line on the flap and only add adhesive up to the centre scoreline on the flap.

Remove the tape backing and adhere the image.
