Hey everyone, it’s time for DT Thursday here on the Stamping Bella blog. This week Sandiebella has gorgeous Easter themed Shadow Box for you to recreate featuring our gorgeous Tiny Townie Becky Loves Bunny Wobbles! Click on through for the full step by step guide to this project.
Easter Shadow Box
Fold all the scorelines and crease well with a bone folder
Cut away the 3 outer squares from each corner and cut the last cube to make a tab
Repeat on all 4 sides, tapering the edges of the tabs as you go.
Measure the centre section of the shadowbox base, it should be 5″ square
Cut a piece of white card measuring 4 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ and a piece of patterned paper measuring 4.75″ x 4.75″. Adhere them together to make a panel.
Adhere the panel to the centre of the shadowbox base.
Cut 4 strips of matching paper measuring 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
Adhere the strips to the shadowbox sides, as shown
Add some layers. I used the cut outs from the paper pack.
Stamp and colour your image using your preferred medium
Fussy cut the image, leaving a narrow white border all around.
Adhere the image, using 3D foam dots.
Apply some double sided tape on the inside of each of the corner tabs.
Bring the tabs to the outside of the box base and adhere.
Repeat with all 4 sides to make the box. Fold the outer 0.75″ sections outwards
Take the second 8″ x 8″ piece of white card. Measure 1″ in on all 4 sides and mark with a pencil.
Using a craft knife, or paper trimmers if it allows, cut out the square in the centre.
Cut 4 pieces of white card measuring 7/8″ x 7 7/8″. Lay one of the pieces on the top of the square frame and mark the corners with a pencil.
Cut at the pencil marks to make an angle.
Repeat for both ends of all 4 pieces.
Adhere all the pieces onto the base frame. You may need to trim them down a little more, depending on the angles.
Cut 4 pieces of patterned paper measuring 0.75″ x 7.75″. Again, lay it on the base frame, but this time, mark with a pencil using the angled white card.
Repeat on both sides, on all 4 pieces.
Take the shadow box and apply double sided tape to all 4 outer tabs.
Remove the backing from ONE piece of tape. Turn the front frame patterned paper side down and carefully lay the shadow box, eyeballing to centre. When you’re happy with the positioning, press down the side you removed the tape backing from.
Remove the tape from each of the other tabs and press them down. Burnish with a bone folder. Turn the whole thing over and this completes the shadow box.
To make an easel so that the box will stand, cut 2 pieces of white card measuring 3″ tall x 2.5″ wide.
Measure in 0.5″ on both pieces, and mark with a pencil.
Cut the pieces at an angle, from the 0.5″ pencil mark to the outside bottom corner
Score each piece at the 0.5″ mark.
Adhere the two pieces together making sure not to apply any adhesive on the 0.5″ sections. These fold outards for attaching to the back of the box.
Apply double sided tape on each of the 0.5″ sections.
Adhere to the centre bottom of the shadow box.
The box should stand like this.
Embellish the shadow box as desired, utilising your papers.
Cut out the accompanying sentiment and adhere using 3D foam dots.
