Using a craft knife, or paper trimmers if it allows, cut out the square in the centre.

Cut 4 pieces of patterned paper measuring 0.75″ x 7.75″. Again, lay it on the base frame, but this time, mark with a pencil using the angled white card.

Remove the backing from ONE piece of tape. Turn the front frame patterned paper side down and carefully lay the shadow box, eyeballing to centre. When you’re happy with the positioning, press down the side you removed the tape backing from.

Remove the tape from each of the other tabs and press them down. Burnish with a bone folder. Turn the whole thing over and this completes the shadow box.

To make an easel so that the box will stand, cut 2 pieces of white card measuring 3″ tall x 2.5″ wide.

Measure in 0.5″ on both pieces, and mark with a pencil.

Cut the pieces at an angle, from the 0.5″ pencil mark to the outside bottom corner

Score each piece at the 0.5″ mark.

Adhere the two pieces together making sure not to apply any adhesive on the 0.5″ sections. These fold outards for attaching to the back of the box.

Apply double sided tape on each of the 0.5″ sections.

The box should stand like this.

My crafting friend and I made one of these as a gift…we did a St. Patty’s Day theme. We had a blast making it and she loved it so much.

Error in your tutorial….the second 8×8 panel should be measured in 1.5″ on all 4 sides vs. 1″. This, of course, requires amendment to the size of the mitered pieces.
