Marker Geek Monday is here again! I am pretty sure my brain is still somewhere back in February, but I’ve been informed that we’re actually almost done with May. Must be all the colouring occupying my thoughts. Ha! Today I’m combining a couple of my favourite things and showing you how to create some fun and simple cards using Copics and Distress Inks together.
It’s Monday again, but that’s okay, because it’s also Marker Geek Monday! Today I’ve got a quick post for you highlighting one of great things about Copic markers (and other alcohol based markers too, really).
When colouring the last release, I found myself changing my mind a few times while colouring some of the images. One of the cool things about Copic markers is that for the most part it is relatively simple to go back and make changes.
When colouring this image I gave the Squidgy girl black shoes, then decided that they were a little distracting since I hadn’t used black anywhere else on the image. To help remedy this, I went back over the teddy bear’s nose with dark grey and black markers, covering the brown I had originally used, then used the colourless blender to create a brighter highlight.
As you can see in the video above, I left the middle girl’s dress until the end at which point I decided I wanted a brighter yellow than the one I had initially chosen for the eggs. When I coloured the dress the eggs ended up looking way too dull in comparison, so I went back over them with the brighter yellow to help them work with the colour of the dress.
The lesson? If you’re working with Copics and decide you don’t quite like the colour choices you’ve made, it is worth trying to “fix” things rather than just ditching all your work and starting from scratch. In fact, this goes for most mediums. Work with your mistakes and see what you can learn – you might discover a colour combo you wouldn’t previously have tried, or a property of the medium that you hadn’t considered previously.

It’s time for another Marker Geek Monday post with me – Elaineabella – to get you inspired and colouring this week! I’ve got a really simple and fun technique to share, which you can apply in lots of different ways. Let’s take a look!
Elaineabella here with your usual dose of Marker Geek Monday colouring fun on the more usual day of Monday this week! 😉
It seems at least a few of you were interested in reading more about Twinkling H2Os, so I made the terrible sacrifice of playing with them again over the weekend. I know, I know, the things I do for the greater good…
Hey hey! Elaineabella here with your usual dose of Marker Geek Monday colouring fun, except…it’s Tuesday! Don’t ask – Monday was a blur.
There is no Crazy Tuesday this week – the warehouse are working flat out getting all the new release orders out to you, that’s all the crazy they can handle!
Before all the NEW RELEASE shenanigans last week, I shared a little waffle about colouring mediums for colouring stamped images: Marker Geek Monday Colouring Mediums for Colouring Stamps. In that post I promised I would do a little more with watercolour/water based supplies, and here I am! I’ve got a few fun cards to share, hopefully showing that you can create beautiful, fun cards with whatever you have!
Hi everyone, Elaineabella here! Unfortunately I don’t have a Marker Geek Monday post for you today – I’ve been so busy that I just didn’t manage to get it finished.
Why have I been so busy? There’s a new release on the way! No firm details on dates as yet, but Emily gave me permission to give you a little sneaky peeky to prove I haven’t just been slacking off, so here goes…
Seriously can’t wait to share them all with you – it is another F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C. release with so much stamping fun. I’ve had a sneak peek of some of the cards the Babes are creating too and OH MY! You should definitely perch on the edge of your seats and watch this space…
See you next week with the usual Marker Geek Monday post. In the meantime, I’ve got colouring to finish, videos to edit and cards to make…eek!
